Jorge Forero is a Colombian film director, producer, film programmer, and professor.
In 2021, he established Marginal Cine to develop daring audiovisual projects that explore the depth of the audiovisual language while aiming for multidisciplinary involvement in collective creation processes.
"Inside", a collective short film made with six of the most outstanding Latin American filmmakers, was the first project of Marginal Cine, that premiered in the Sao Paulo International Short Film Festival.
With Marginal Cine, Forero has co-produced the feature films "Diòba" (Ann Arbor 2023) by Adriana Rojas, and produced "Dreams Travel With The Wind" by Inti Jacanamijoy (Sheffield Doc/Fest 2024); and "Matrioshka" (Shanghai 2024) by Jorge Forero.
Additionally, in 2010 he co-founded Burning Blue, a film production company, with which he produced "Land and Shade" by César Acevedo (Camera d'Or - Cannes 2015), as well as "The Sacrifice" by Jaime Osorio Márquez (Warsaw 2017).
He is also Executive Producer of Pavan Moondi's "Sundowners" and Associate Producer of Oscar Ruiz Navia's "The Fungi" (Locarno 2014). With Burning Blue, he co-produced the feature films "Buy me a gun" by Julio Hernández Cordón (Cannes 2018); "Jesus" by Fernando Guzzoni (San Sebastian 2016); "Sheltered" by Diego Lerman (Cannes 2014); and "Climas" by Enrica Pérez (Warsaw 2014).
"Violence", his directorial debut, had its international premiere in 2015 at the Berlin Film Festival. Since then, it has screened at multiple film festivals and has received multiple awards, including Best Film at the Huelva Film Festival's Rábida section.
He has directed the short films "One of Those Days" and "Never Even"; as well as the documentary "In the Bottom of the Well".
From 2014 to 2018, he was head of programming for the PuertoLab-WIP, Short Films, and New Creators sections of the FICCI - Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival. From 2018 to 2022, he was a programmer for Bogoshorts in Bogota.
He alternates filmmaking with teaching as a professor in the Master's Degree in Audiovisual Creation at the Universidad Javeriana. Forero is on the Board of the Colombian Film Academy.
