Chris Pine, who has played James T. Kirk in the Kelvin timeline big-screen Star Trek adventures, is reportedly set to head up the cast of the film Nowhere Fast, to be written and directed by Noah Hawley, according to the entertainment trade publication Variety. Hawley is best known for his work as the creator, producer, director, and writer of the television shows Fargo and Legion, and he wrote, produced, and directed the Natalie Portman film Lucy in the Sky. Variety reports that Pine will play “a small-town criminal who inadvertently kills the nephew of his boss.”
What makes the team-up between Pine and Hawley especially noteworthy is the fact that the two men nearly worked together on a fourth Kelvin timeline Star Trek film. Fallout is returning for a second season and Walton Goggins can’t sing enough praises for the new season. According to Goggins, the first season of the show was extraordinary and he is sure that the second season is going to surpass the first. However, for Goggins’ big promise to shape into reality, Prime Video should avoid one mistake with the new season.

The ‘Fallout’ series on Amazon Prime Video was a huge success, attracting over 100 million viewers and becoming the platform’s second most-watched show after ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.’ The show’s popularity also boosted interest in the ‘Fallout’ video games, leading to a big increase in players.
Critics responded positively and many praised the series for staying true to the games while still being enjoyable for newcomers. Some even called it one of the best video game adaptations ever, comparing it to ‘The Last of Us.’
Soon after the release of the first season, the show was renewed for a second season. Now Walon Goggins, who portrays the lead Cooper Howard in the show provided fans with a new update on the state of the season 2.

Prime Video’s hit series “Fallout” is set to return with a second season that actor Walton Goggins claims will dramatically surpass its first installment. In a recent interview at the “The White Lotus” premiere, Goggins expressed excitement about the show’s creative direction and production.
“This blows [Season 1] out of the water,” Goggins told reporters, praising the writers and production team’s efforts. The series, adapted from the popular Bethesda video game franchise, follows survivors emerging from a luxury fallout shelter 200 years after a nuclear apocalypse.
Production for the second season has undergone significant changes, including a move from New York to Los Angeles after securing a $25 million tax credit. Despite brief delays caused by California wildfires, the show continues to make steady progress.
The ensemble cast remains strong, with Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, and Kyle MacLachlan returning. A notable addition this season is actor Macaulay Culkin, first reported by Deadline in November.

As a fan of long-form content and storytelling, I find it interesting to see where the wind is blowing with regard to storytelling. The streaming service bubble is slowly beginning to burst. Auteurs and studios being given carte blanche is now becoming a thing of the past, and the older television model of storytelling is slowly being favored as budgets begin to be slashed. The sureshot bets stumbled hard, with Indian content especially exhibiting its weakest year yet. But amidst all that, the strongest shows stem from the stalwarts, while miniseries led by singular visions manage to stand out once again. As always, whittling down to the 10 best TV shows of 2024, and having missed out on a couple of interesting ones (“Pachinko” Season 2), or dropped due to sheer boredom, is quite hard to do, but one must be ruthless.

It has been officially confirmed by Deadline that the production of Fallout Season 2 has hit a snag due to strong winds and a wildfire near Santa Clarita. Filming was originally set to resume tomorrow, but now it’s been pushed to Friday as a precaution.
The show, produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Kilter Films, films in Santa Clarita, a region known for its windy conditions. The city was hit with a brush fire north of town just yesterday, causing additional concerns.
While Fallout was relocated to California from New York for Season 2 after securing a $25 million tax credit, other TV shows, like NCIS, also shoot in the area. As of now, no other productions have been affected by the calamity that hit the West Coast.

The science fiction genre had a banner year in 2024 and it’s time to look back on the best of the best.
This year brought us a handful of new “Star Wars” shows that took the canon to new eras, a devastating finale to Netflix’s beloved animated series “Arcane” and reintroduced fans to the classic X-Men in “X-Men ’97.” It was an embarrassment of riches for fans of the genre.

In Hollywood, the Nolan name is synonymous with a commitment to producing cinematic spectacle at the highest possible level. Christopher Nolan’s obsession with shooting on celluloid film, using IMAX cameras, and staging everything from military battles and zero gravity sequences to atomic bomb tests with as many practical effects as possible is well documented. And his brother and frequent collaborator Jonathan Nolan employs a similar approach on his shows like “Westworld” and “Fallout.”
Jonathan Nolan recently sat down with “Westworld” star Aaron Paul for a career-spanning Q&a hosted by American Cinematheque, where he reflected on his commitment to producing TV shows with an unrivaled attention to detail.
Nolan recalled his first experience with shooting on film during the production of “Westworld” after previously shooting “Person of Interest” digitally — and the moment he knew he could never go back.

When Walton Goggins, Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten and Moisés Arias signed on to Jonathan Nolan’s “Fallout” TV series at Amazon’s Prime Video, the actors didn’t know where the adaptation of the popular Bethesda Game Studios franchise was headed. And that was fine by them, after reading the initial scripts that revealed the post-apocalyptic world their respective characters, Cooper Howard/The Ghoul, Lucy, Maximus and Norm, were surviving in.
“We got two episodes. Two episodes were written before we started to understand the tone. And then [the scripts] would dribble out,” Goggins said during a recent panel hosted by Variety.
In fact, Goggins said the finale script wasn’t delivered until a few days before filming.
“Yellowjackets” star Purnell says she had a prep meeting with show creators Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet ahead of even auditioning for “Fallout” to get a sense of the vibe they were going for with the show.

As production of Fallout season begins, Walton Goggins reflects on the impact of season1 following its release from his meetings with fans across the globe. Based on the beloved Bethesda video game franchise, the Prime Video series follows Ella Purnell's Lucy as she steps outside the safety of her underground Vault home into the irradiated wastelands that were once America following a cataclysmic nuclear conflict. Alongside Purnell and Goggins, Fallout's cast includes Aaron Moten, Kyle MacLachlan, Moises Arias, Leslie Uggams, Johnny Pemberton, Sarita Choudhury, and Michael Emerson.
With production on Fallout season 2 soon set to get fully underway, Goggins looked back on how season 1 has been received while speaking to Entertainment Weekly. Goggins is familiar with being recognized in public for his roles, but the 2024 post-apocalyptic series has brought out the most reactions he has seen throughout his career - the actor recalls how he met three separate...

Now, we’ve learned that Fallout season 2 has started filming, and we’ve been tipped off by the fact that Walton Goggins, who plays The Ghoul, shared an image on social media that shows him getting back into Ghoul character.

On several occasions, he has explained that he treated the series like another entry in the video game series.

This year, “Shōgun” has extended the unbroken 2020s trend of at least one series earning multiple Best Drama Writing Emmy notices at once. Although none of the earlier cases resulted in wins, the new FX series is generally expected to fare differently, especially since, unlike most of its predecessors, it won’t have to fend off three-time winner “Succession.”
Of the 10 individuals presently nominated for this writing award, only 2021 champ Peter Morgan (“The Crown”) has competed for it before. Excluding his show and “Slow Horses,” a majority of the programs in this lineup launched in 2024.

The popular video game “Fallout” has become one of Amazon Prime Video’s most successful shows thanks to the collaborative work of its screenwriters Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner. Bringing diverse experiences in film and television, the pair have crafted a nuanced narrative set in the post-apocalyptic world inspired by the games.
Robertson-Dworet focuses on action movies but understood the need for character depth. Wagner specializes in comedy but recognized “Fallout’s” dramatic potential. They spent five years carefully designing a story entertaining to fans but accessible to new audiences. “We needed humor to balance the difficult topic,” explained Wagner.
The open-ended nature of the “Fallout” games allowed creativity but risked frustration if deviations upset loyal fans. Minor changes sparked online outrage, acknowledged Wagner.
Overall freedom to develop new plots and personalities proved liberating. “We got to invent our own characters within the established world,” said Robertson-Dworet.

“I’ve always felt throughout my career that you can always get the audience to a slightly darker place if you tell them a couple of jokes along the way,” says Fallout executive producer/director Jonathan Nolan about the approach and tone the multi-Emmy-nominated Prime Video drama has taken in its debut season.
Joined by fellow EP and co-showrunner Graham Wagner and star Walton Goggins, Nolan was speaking at Deadline’s virtual Contenders Television: The Nominees event.
Portlandia alum Wagner agrees with Nolan’s Pov on mixed-genre storytelling.
“I think that good drama has humor, and it always has,” the showrunner says. “As we’ve sort of seen in the last 20 years, great calamities can happen, and humans are still going to be idiosyncratic, weird and a little, I don’t love the word quirky, but little quirky.”

“Fallout” production designer Howard Cummings just received his sixth Emmy nomination in a category that covers a lot of territory and is also a mouthful: Best Production Design for a Narrative Period or Fantasy Program (One Hour or More). But as a fellow nominee pointed out, he might have an edge here.
“What’s funny is my Emmy category is a period and fantasy category, so they’re very disparate people in it. But one of my friends who designed one of the other shows called me up and went, ‘You’re actually the only one who actually covers both sides of that, by the way,'” Cummings tells Gold Derby (watch the exclusive video interview above). “I was like, ‘Yeah, it is. Because of the retrofuturism, it’s also period, but it’s also sci-fi.”

Fallout season 2 will not be an anthology series and will instead focus on the show's existing characters and storylines. The show's commitment to continuity with the games, all while exploring new characters and locations, is promising for Fallout's future. Season 1's cliffhangers have set up exciting developments for season 2, which makes the confirmation of a non-anthology approach even more exciting.
My greatest fear about Fallout season 2's direction has been put to rest and I couldn't be more thrilled. When asked about the show's sophomore outing in the past, showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner were pretty cryptic about whether Fallout season 2 would follow in the video game series' footsteps and be an anthology. If that were the case, each season of the TV show adaptation would be set in the world of Fallout while following different characters or, bolder yet, covering different chunks of Fallout's timeline, just like the video game installments.

With the “Fallout” TV adaptation and Donald Glover and Maya Erskine’s “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” both landing Emmy noms in the drama category Wednesday, Amazon MGM Studios chief Jennifer Salke and head of TV Vernon Sanders are celebrating Amazon’s unprecedented position of having two shows in the running for this year’s top prize.
Salke and Sanders spoke with Variety after the dust had settled to break down the 62 overall nominations received by Amazon and MGM Studios — including 17 for “Fallout,” 16 for “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” and a nod for TV movie for the LGBTQ rom-com “Red, White & Royal Blue,” among the studio’s other noms.
On the heels of the Emmys love for HBO’s “The Last of Us,” were you expecting “Fallout” to be able to achieve similar results or still cautious about the awards reaction to video game adaptations and genre TV?
