Biography

The movies were always part of Ishmael's life. While growing up, he would skip classes and sneak into a movie theater whenever possible. Some of his favorite genres were westerns, thrillers and musicals.

As a film student, Ishmael has come to appreciate films made by the masters of Cinema such as Ford, Kurosawa, Lean, Fellini, Bergman, Lang, Capra, Huston, Wells... etc... Now as a filmmaker, he believes that cinema is an art form that thrives on the other arts such as painting, poetry and music. So his first instinct while on the set to shoot a scene is how to best use the camera as a pen. Besides shorts and music videos, Ishmael has made four pictures: Torture (2004), One In A Billion (2006), Deeds And Seeds (2010) and Semente Mala (2012).
