Nick DePalo is an Italian-American actor, director, and screenwriter
who was born on February 26, 1986 in Waterbury Connecticut. His
parents, Nicola and Filomena DePalo both emigrated from Italy to
America in 1977. Nick is the youngest of two siblings. His passion for
film started at a very young age when his mother purchased a VHS camera
to record family gatherings. Nick realized early on that he was most
comfortable being in front of his parent's camera. At ten years old his
life would change dramatically when his oldest brother took a date to
watch Star Wars Special Edition. The date restricted Nick from seeing
the film, but it planted a seed that would cause him to view the movie
later on. That film would not only change how Nick viewed story
telling, but would propel him into the world of acting and filmmaking.
In Nick's sophomore year of high school he overheard his assistant wrestling coach Joel Barham discussing short film ideas. Quickly they connected and teamed up on projects. During Nick's senior year of High School his meniscus was torn during practice. The injury occurred only one day prior to the state tournament. His fellow teammates were devastated, but it only focused Nick to see his true direction, acting. That year he turned down a wrestling scholarship and pursued his acting career with his film partner Joel. Nick's talent for film grew during their seven-year partnership, which won them Best Picture (2008), Best Screenplay, and Audience Choice Award (2010) at the Palm Beach International Film Festival. During that time they also created documentaries which were featured in successful worldwide magazines such as Muscle & Fitness and Flex.
Nick would later go on with aspirations to further grow his talents, which had him depart the independent filmmaking scene. He would soon land a small role in Rock of Ages (2012) and Charlie's Angels (2011) that led him to his recurring role on Starz series, Magic City. While continuing to explore new artistic challenges Nick DePalo has always made sure his work is centered on compassionate characters and the ability to express emotionally driven stories. Nick continues to create films that inspire and motivate his viewers.
