Emmy-winning director Senem Tüzen, born in Ankara, wrote and directed the Turkish mother-daughter drama Motherland (Ana Yurdu), her first feature, which premiered at the 2015 Venice Critics' Week and earned two FIPRESCI prizes, among other accolades. She co-directed the narrative documentary Eat Your Catfish (2021), which premiered in competition at IDFA and earned an Emmy for Outstanding Social Issue Documentary. She was one of six international finalists for the 2022 Academy Gold Fellowship for Women, given by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Previously, she has contributed to various film and television projects, including for Al Jazeera and Turkish state television, as a producer, editor, and director of photography.
