Jonathan Taieb, a passionate cinephile, began his filmmaking journey directing several short films before focusing on his first feature, Le Monde Doit M'Arriver (Find The Way). Independently written, produced, and directed, the film garnered awards at international festivals and was theatrically released in France in 2013. It narrates the story of Ludovic, a young man nearing thirty, whose chance encounter with Raphaël, a sick child, profoundly alters his perspective on the future.
His second feature, Stand, is a bold Russian-language drama addressing homophobia. The film follows a couple willing to risk everything to uncover the truth behind a violent crime they witnessed. Stand premiered at Frameline in San Francisco, screened at over 100 festivals worldwide, received critical acclaim, was sold in multiple territories, and led to Taieb's selection as a "Berlinale Talents" in 2014.
He then created Protégeons demain, a series of 1-minute episodes blending documentary and animation, featuring children sharing their dreams alongside the iconic Anny Duperey. The program was broadcast on France 2, the French national television channel.
In 2024, Taieb founded the Paris-based production company Annexe 3 to complete the production of Alterlove within six months. This radical and modern exploration of relationships combines raw emotions with innovative storytelling. Remarkably, Alterlove was filmed over nine consecutive nights. The film premiered at the Hof International Film Festival and is scheduled for release in France in early 2025.
