- Additional Crew
Hailing from the Midwest, Marla Seidell grew up outside the Windy City. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa, cum laude from Hofstra University. As a postgraduate Fulbright, she studied European history at The University of Amsterdam. Upon returning to Chicago, she pursued journalism. She was a stringer for the New York Post and a correspondent for The Daily Herald, and it was while reviewing theater that she decided to pursue acting.
Seidell has performed in dozens of independent feature films that have screened at film festivals around the world. She won the DIFF award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as a B-movie actress in the comedy "Private Screening." She tends to play outrageous, eccentric types, or conflicted authority figures.
On the Chicago stage, both contemporary and period pieces are a natural fit. In 2024, Seidell played Henrietta Seiberling and Hen Dotson in the Chicago premiere of the smash hit play, "Bill W. and Dr. Bob," that tells the story of the founding of Alcoholics Anonymous in 1935.
