Norway’s heavyweight producer Thomas Robsahm, credited for more than 50 films, including Joachim Trier’s double Oscar-nominated “The Worst Person in the World,” is gearing up for his busiest film slate ever.

After the delivery of Lilja Ingolfsdotttir’s Karlovy Vary’s multiple-winner “Loveable” and Yenni Lee’s “Explosions in My Heart,” which both screened at the New Nordic Films market in Haugesund, Robsahm is gearing up for four film shoots.

First up is “Dancing Queen in Hollywood,” Aurora Gossé’s sequel to her 2023 family hit “Dancing Queen,” which snagged multiple awards in 2023, including best children’s film in Zurich, Seattle, and distribution deals in more than 30 territories. Produced for his outfit Amarcord, the feelgood children’s film is currently in post-production, with a release set for 2025. LevelK handles sales.

The producer who joined Nordisk Film Production Norway in 2022 has three titles fully financed, lined up for the Scandinavian studio.

Norwegian Film Institute also backs new Hans Petter Moland and Ingvild Søderlind films.

The team from the family film hit Dancing Queen will reunite for a sequel, Dancing Queen in Hollywood.

The film has received support from the Norwegian Film Institute’s latest production funding round, with backing of $491,000 of the film’s total budget of $1.6m (Euros 1.5m).

The team plans to shoot in Los Angeles, Copenhagen (studio work) and Hamar, Norway in 2024, for a launch in 2025.

Royalteen: Princess Margrethe is the sequel to Royalteen. This time, it is directed by Ingvild Søderlind and starsInes Høysæter Asserson, Mathias Storhøi and Elli Rhiannon Müller Osbourne. Based on the book by Randi Fuglehaug and Anne Gunn Halvorsen.

Royalteen proved (or proved to us critics) that young people either don’t read reviews or don’t give a damn about them. A low score from audiences and critics was not enough to prevent this Norwegian production had a second chance.

Youth does very well to ignore it, as this second part does very well to build on (and surpass) the successes of its predecessor.

New films by Thomas Vinterberg, Charlotte Blom and Jonas Poher Rasmussen will be presented at the Goteborg Film Festival’s Nordic Film Market. In total, 16 films in post-production will be presented to industry participants in at the Nordic Film Market as part of the Work-in-Progress section. Half of the lineup is made up of first features.

Cia Edström, the head of the Nordic Film Market, said the industry showcase is seeing a big increase in participation this year. As many as 381 attendees from 25 countries so far have signed up for the event, including 37 sales agents, 67 festival programmers and 47 buyers. Edström noted the breadth and diversity of films and projects in this year’s program.

Vinterberg’s next film, “Another Round” is a modern drama starring Mads Mikkelsen. Represented in international markets by TrustNordisk, the film follows a group of high school teachers who embark on an experiment to be intoxicated...

Haugesund, Norway — Celine Sciamma’s intellectually dexterous, bittersweet love tale “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” has claimed another heart, taking home The Norwegian Film-Critics’ Prize at the Haugesund Film Festival’s closing night on Thursday.

The festival, which runs over August 17-23, capped its 47th edition with a screening of André Løyning and Kristian Landmark’s documentary

Sciamma’s revisionist romance won the screenplay prize at the Cannes Film Festival in May and will next head to Toronto, where it will screen as a Special Presentation.

“With elegance, sophistication and courage, the film explores how love and vitality can – at least momentarily – throw off the shackles of an oppressive social order. Exquisite acting performances and cinematography, combined with a soupcon of mythological symbolism, add up to a work of serious artistic merit,” noted the jury members in their verdict.

The Eurimages Lab Award went to director Guro Bruusgaard’s “Him.

Vogt’s ‘The Innoncents’ is expected to shoot this year.

Eskil Vogt’s new film The Innocents (De Uskyldige) is one of the projects backed by the Norwegian Film Institute’s latest funding round yesterday.

Vogt writes and directs the story about four children (ages 6 to 12), away from their parents’ attention, whose innocent play turns into something else. The filmmaking team wrote, “Magic and creepy things start happening. The Innocents is a film for adults and a shocking journey in to the secret world of the children.”

Films from Nsu German History X director Christian Schwochow, BeTipul star Shira Geffen, 7 Days in Havana director Santiago Mitre and The Full Monty producer Uberto Pasolini are among the titles set for this year’s Berlinale Co-Production Market.

The co-pro market, which will see 600 international producers and financiers to come together to explore new partnerships, will host 37 feature film projects. Notably, 20 female filmmaker, 49% of selected titles, are represented.

Schwochow is hosting Je Suis Karl, which is produced by Germany’s Pandora Film Produktion; Geffen has A Responsible Adult, a family drama set against the backdrop of Israel’s mythical Masada plateau with Israel’s Marker Films; Mitre is shopping Petite Fleur from France’s Maneki Films and Argentina’s La Uniòn de los Rìos, and Pasolini is directing Nowhere Special from UK’s Red Wave Films.
