With the WGA currently picketing and a looming SAG-AFTRA strike already impacting San Diego Comic-Con with several film and TV companies, i.e. Marvel, Lucasfilm, Sony, Universal, Netflix skipping, Lord knows what a truncated and tamer Comic-Con is going to look like from July 19-23, especially after an explosive 2022 which repped the confab’s return to in-person after going dark for two years during Covid for 2020 and 2021. However, here’s a glimpse at the first 3-days. Some shows and movies have promised cast appearances, but that’s still Tbd given that the SAG-AFTRA contract expires on July 12, and actors aren’t permitted to promote their wares during a work stoppage. There are some big pieces of IP below, read the new Peacock John Wick spinoff series, The Continental and Paramount’s Seth Rogen produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, as well as Jamie Lee Curtis, Tj Miller and...

With summer amping up in a big way, movie fans have much to look forward to. Many of us have been loving flicks like John Wick: Chapter 4 and Scream 6. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brought us some serious weekend buzz. And while the superhero flicks haven’t been quite as successful as of late, I’d wait to count them out, especially when you have something fresh to bring. And after seeing the Blue Beetle trailer, I am looking forward to a new force of nature to create some movie magic. And now you can check it out above!
The cinematic take on the character revolves around Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña), a teenager from Mexico. When he discovers a beetle-shaped object, he gets much more than he bargained for. After the “sacred scarab” gives the young man powers, in front of his family no less, he finds...

Rebecca Parrott from 90 Day Fiancé has been called the franchise “filter queen,” but there have been times when Zied Hakimi’s wife has ditched the editing apps, and her makeup, to reveal her natural beauty. Rebecca, who was insecure about her age when she met Zied, started using filters whenever they spoke during video calls. When Rebecca went to Tunis to see Zied in person, he infamously wore a t-shirt with her very photoshopped photo on it, while meeting her at the airport. However, Zied was shocked when he saw how different Rebecca looked in her pictures, versus real life.
Many 90 Day Fiancé fans didn’t like Rebecca using filters on Instagram, because most of them already know what she looks without them. Fans knew of Rebecca’s gorgeous features, thanks to 90 Day Fiancé, and encouraged her to embrace her natural beauty on social media as well. It took Rebecca...

Meghan Markle announced in her new Variety cover story that she does not plan to return to acting in the future, saying, “No. I’m done. I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not.” But that doesn’t mean there won’t be versions of Meghan Markle on screen. Several Lifetime movies have already cast actors as the Duchess of Sussex, and surely more film and TV projects will be made in the vein of Netflix’s “The Crown” that include Markle as a central character.
“I haven’t given that much thought, to be honest. It’s all weird,” Markle told Variety when asked how it feels knowing actors will play her on screen one day. “You have to compartmentalize. Anyone talking about me or casting an actor to play me, that will be a caricature of me that has been created for a business...

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson brought out the lightning — quite literally — during the middle of Warner Brothers’ Comic-Con panel, emerging from a thick fog of smoke on a rising panel in his full Black Adam garb before lightning bolts lit up on the screen behind him.
“Hall H, you’ve been warned,” Johnson said stoically. “The DC Cinematic Universe will never be the same again.”
It was the type of fanfare fitting for one of the most anticipated panels of Comic-Con 2022, and just the most noteworthy in an hour devoted to Black Adam and Shazam!

Mattel is one of the companies that makes a big footprint at San Diego Comic-Con, especially for its vaunted exclusive collectibles. This year, however, the company is marking its first in-person appearance since 2019 with an agenda that features a slew of big-name panels, signings and giveaways. Among the festivities will be a Hall H panel celebrating the 40th anniversary of Masters of the Universe, appearances by WWE Superstars and toy designers.
Collectors, however, needn’t worry. Exclusives are very much still part of the itinerary. In fact, Mattel will reveal a dozen exclusives, coming via its Mattel Creations label, during what it is billing as “12 Days of Fandom. Mattel will offer drops that harken to iconic and classic properties as the company, in its own words, “opens up the vault.” That begins July 11 and will lead to a 288-hour sale of the 2022 lineup.

San Diego Comic-Con 2021, the second Comic-Con@Home edition of the beloved pop culture event, kicks off its three-day run Friday.
The free online event, which runs through Sunday, isn't anywhere near as packed with panels as the famed in-person Sdcc usually is, but a decent number of studios and networks will still be hosting Q&As and digital screenings for their TV shows and movies.
As TheWrap reported exclusively earliest this month, HBO (which did present at the 2020 event) will be skipping this year's online con, but its sibling streaming service HBO Max is presenting a virtual event for the show, "gen:lock."
Other notable absentees from the second (and hopefully last) pandemic-forced virtual San Diego Comic-Con include Marvel Studios and DC Films, both of which did not attend the first Comic-Con@Home last year.

Masters of the Universe will once again have the power, this time on the platform of Netflix, which has unveiled a new animated series shaped under the creative auspices of geek royalty in showrunner/executive producer Kevin Smith. Consequently, the latest iteration of the Mattel Toy property, which dominated pop culture during the 1980s, is carrying classic-inspired sensibilities, as the new show’s first images clearly prove. It’s a retro direction—in stark contrast to other revivals of the property—that Smith confirms was no accident.
Two years after it was announced, Netflix animated revival Masters of the Universe: Revelation has officially revealed a first array of preview images (seen just below), with a release date set for July. Said images (mostly) check off a “who’s who” lineup culled from the franchise’s famously deep well of characters. However, the aesthetics appear to be an artful amalgamation of...

Lifetime is expanding its Harry & Meghan Creative Universe to air a third movie about the embattled royal couple.
In the wake of Oprah Winfrey’s blockbuster interview with the former Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Lifetime has greenlighted “Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace,” which promises to “reveal what ultimately lead to the couple’s break from the royal family.”
The new film is the follow-up to Lifetime’s 2018 entry “Harry & Meghan,” which chronicled the newlyweds’ love story, and 2019’s “Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal,” which looked at their experiences inside the Royal Family during their first year of marriage.
Lifetime is now billing the three movies as their “Harry & Meghan” movie franchise trilogy. Casting is currently underway for the “Escaping the Palace,” and production will begin this spring, with an airdate eyed for fall.
