Samir Karahoda holds a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul. In addition to his work as a photographer, he is a cinematographer, tutor, and has served as the curator of the short film program at the Documentary and Short Film Festival DokuFest in Prizren, Kosovo, for nearly 20 years. His documentary short film "In Between" (Në mes) marked his directorial debut, premiering at the Berlinale in 2019. His second short film, "Displaced" (Pa vend), premiered in the Official Competition at the Festival de Cannes in 2021 and earned an EFA nomination for the European Film Awards. Among other distinctions, "Displaced" won the IMDb Pro Short Cuts Award at TIFF-Toronto, Best Nonfiction at the Sundance Film Festival, and was nominated for the European Film Awards.
"On the Way, his third short film, also had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2024. In 2019, Karahoda was honored with the annual cinematography award from the Ministry of Culture of Kosovo. He is also a member of the European Film Academy."
