Natalie Shirinian is a distinguished director, actor, writer, and producer, acclaimed for her intimate and dramatic storytelling across narrative, documentary, and conceptual genres.
Co-founding the production company, Not All Films, with her wife Elizabeth Baudouin, the duo collaboratively crafted compelling works such as "Interior Motives" (2017), "Parev Mama" (2020), and Baudouin's debut, "Breakup Text" (2023), where Shirinian takes on a starring role and serves as executive producer. Most recently they produced the short documentary film ALOK, featuring Alok Vaid-Menon, directed by Alex Hedison, and executive produced by Academy Award winner Jodie Foster, premiering at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. Beyond the silver screen, Shirinian and Baudouin have been the face of influential campaigns, solidifying their status as a dynamic power pairing in the industry.
Shirinian made her directing debut in 2017 with her multiple award winning documentary film, INTERIOR MOTIVES, the first ever documentary exploring the interconnectedness of fashion and interior design. The film features Michéle Lamy, Miles Redd, Tommy Hilfiger, Deborah Needleman, and Maria Cornejo. It was the Official Selection of the Academy Award Qualifying Flickers Rhode Island International Film Festival, BAFTA Qualifying Carmarthen Bay Film Festival, and the Architecture Design Art Film Festival. The film had multiple sold out shows at NeueHouse during FRIEZE Los Angeles, 2020. INTERIOR MOTIVES won Best Short Documentary at the Berlin Short Film Festival, and was inducted into the permanent library of the prominent Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).
During the 2020 Covid pandemic, Shirinian wrote, directed, and starred in her short film, PAREV MAMA (HELLO MOTHER). The film follows a first-generation, queer, Armenian-American, woman living in Los Angeles. It won multiple awards, including Best Short Film at the Los Angeles Film Festival StorytelLA, and was awarded with The Parajanov Institute Award for Best Director, the Audience Award at the 2022 Oscar Qualifying Hollyshorts Film Festival, Best Short Film at the Big Apple Film Festival and Screenplay Competition, Audience Award at the Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival. PAREV MAMA was also a participant in the prestigious New Filmmakers Los Angeles, in conjunction with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and Official Selection for the Canadian Screen Qualifying Inside Out Film Festival.
In 2023, she acted in Elizabeth Baudouin's debut short film BREAKUP TEXT, and executive produced the project alongside Academy Award, Grammy Award, and BAFTA Award winning producer David Dinerstein. The film was the Official Selection for the Academy Award Qualifying Woodstock Film Festival, Academy Award Qualifying Provincetown International Film Festival, the prestigious SCAD Film Festival, and is currently doing the film festival rounds.
She is in active preproduction on her first feature film PONCHIK, in which she wrote and will direct.
Shirinian has been a contributor to multiple publications such as PAPER, and Vogue. She has also written, directed, and produced, a number of short, and conceptual films, which have challenging, yet inspirational subject matters. She has presided over the Archiproducts Design Awards, featured in Vogue, InStyle's "Badass Women" issue, Variety, Hollywood Reporter, The New York Times, Them, Movie Maker, T magazine, AnOther, Dazed, and was Interview Magazine's "People of Interview." She was asked to speak at the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology on her film INTERIOR MOTIVES, and is a member of the Screen Actors Guild.
