David Moscow’s travel and culinary show From Scratch is getting another season.

The show, hosted by actor and adventurer Moscow, is set to return to the Tastemade streaming channel in April with new episodes that explore locations around the world, from Sweden to Kansas City, Missouri. It gives viewers “an inside look into the planet’s complex and interconnected food supply, how it is sourced, who is involved in the process and why it matters.”

The show finds Moscow — who is also known for his roles as the young version of Tom Hanks’ Big character and as Davey in Newsies — presented with a meal that he learns to source from scratch. He works with local food producers to harvest, hunt, fish, forage and grow each ingredient in the recipe and brings those back to the chef, with whom he works to re-create the original dish.

Exclusive: Ruby Modine (Happy Death Day franchise) and Mikaela Hoover (Superman) have signed on to star in Dead Giveaway, a comedic thriller marking the feature debut of writer-director Ian Kimble.

Based on Kimble’s short of the same name from 2015, the film follows Jill, who wakes up with a hangover and a murdered stranger in her bed. Jill’s day spirals into chaos as she navigates a tied-up man in her closet, an unconscious roommate, and a knife to her best friend’s neck. The goal? Get to brunch before 3:00.

Suzann Toni Petrongolo and Andrew Vogel of VP Independent (The Dirty South) will produce, with filming to kick off this month in New Jersey. Gabrielle Selle of Sellei Law, LLC negotiated deals for the production.

Film Mode has closed multiple sales on the Dermot Mulroney films Breakwater and She’s A Criminal and continues talks with buyers at the EFM.

Set deep in the heart of Louisiana, The Dirty South is a gritty crime thriller led by Dermot Mulroney, Willa Holland and Shane West.

Sue Parker (Holland) finds herself in a desperate battle to save her family’s struggling business, which is on the brink of collapse due to her father’s neglect. When a handsome drifter (West) comes into town she sees him as the only chance to prevent their bar from falling into the hands of a ruthless local tycoon (Mulroney). What starts as a simple plan to save her family, quickly spirals into larceny, lawlessness and deadly consequences.

Crystal Reed and Tahirah Sharif have signed on to star in Dead Giveaway, an indie comedy-thriller that is being directed by Ian Kimble.

The pic, which was written by Kimble, follows Lia (Reed) and Jill (Sharif). Jill is a hard-partying Philadelphian. This has resulted in some epic nights and legendary stories. What she never expected is waking up next to a stranger who has been brutally stabbed to death in her own bed. On this particular Sunday, that is exactly what she wakes up to. She and Lia spend their day trying to solve the mystery of the cadaver in Jill’s bed and still make it to brunch in time for mimosas.

Suzann Toni and Andrew Vogel of Dynasty Pictures will produce the indie, which will film in Philadelphia, Pa.

McColm and Ethan Paisley are producing the surrealistic, female-driven indie thriller. Production gets underway in Los Angeles in two weeks. Rhianon Jones and Suzann Toni will executive produce. Sonja Tsypin is the director of photography on Fuzzy Head.

The McColm-penned script is based on her original story and centers on Maria (portrayed by McColm) who must sift through childhood memories and trauma to unlock the truth about her mother’s death. Sony Pictures has moved up the opening of its crime thriller “Superfly” by two days to June 13, a Wednesday — giving the title a two-day head start on Disney-Pixar’s “Incredibles 2.”

Sony made the move Friday, a day after early tracking on “Incredibles 2” indicated an opening weekend of at least $140 million in North America. Early tracking for “Superfly” indicated an opening in the $10 million range.

“Superfly” is directed by Director X in his feature film debut and stars Trevor Jackson, Jason Mitchell, Michael Kenneth Williams, Lex Scott Davis, and Jennifer Morrison. Unaided awareness on “Superfly” is at 4% with total awareness at 42% and “definite interest” at 33%.

Exclusive: Wolf Fleetwood-Ross, Noah Luis Brown and Meghan Wiggins have been cast in actress Taylor DeVoe’s feature directing debut, Violent Delights. They join The Florida Project breakout Bria Vinaite and Timur Magomedgadzhiev.

Based on an original screenplay by DeVoe, Violent Delights tells the story of three young musicians whose inner demons threaten to derail their budding careers. As the European leg of their tour kicks off, disenchanted Dillon, addiction-plagued Felix, and new-age misfit Skipper hope to rekindle past relationships and find meaning while in Paris. Instead, they find themselves in middle of a mass shooting.

The project was originally unveiled at the Berlin Film Festival in 2017 and has gone through some shifts; it will be newly introduced to buyers this fall.
