Operatic tenor Wynne Evans was born on January 27th 1972. A native of
Carmarthen in South Wales he studied singing at the Guildhall School of
Music and Drama and the National Opera School. Since graduation he has
performed with the leading British opera companies and appeared at the
Royal Opera House,Covent Garden in the contemporary piece 'Anna
Nicole',based on the life of Anna Nicole Smith. He was also in the
twenty-fifth anniversary celebratory performances of 'The Phantom of
the Opera' at the Royal Albert Hall in 2011. For all that he is
probably best known to people who have never been to an opera - as
excitable singer ("he's only a tenner") Gio Comparo in a whole series
of amusing and imaginative television commercials for a certain
insurance company.
