The scene outside Silvercup Studios on Thursday was the same as it has been for weeks.
Dozens of members of the Writers Guild, SAG-AFTRA and other supporters circled loading bays and doors across the Long Island City, NY, property, where Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story has continued work on its 12th season despite efforts by the Writers Guild of America East to slow or halt production on one of the few shows still running on the East Coast.
“We’ve shut down a sh*t-ton of shows and that’s why you see us out today,” T Cooper, a Wgae strike captain and, pre-strike, an executive producer on NBC’s hit series The Blacklist, said today. “We’re here at one of the few remaining shows that are being produced still, and how does it feel? As WGA pickets continue to mobilize at the remaining TV shows in both New York and Los Angeles, at least one Ryan Murphy-produced show was the focus of striking writers’ efforts on Wednesday: “American Horror Story: Delicate.” The show is currently shooting on 52nd street in Manhattan, according to several WGA East member Twitter feeds — including one person who posted video of star Kim Kardashian entering the production.
“It doesn’t appear that @KimKardashian is a friend of the labor movement. She just now crossed our picket line to work on Ryan Murphy’s @Ahsfx Hamptons, shooting here on 52nd in NYC,” wrote “The Blacklist” exec producer and WGA strike captain T Cooper on his Twitter account.
Cooper’s Tweet came hours after former “Law & Order: Svu” exec producer (and WGA strike captain) Warren Leight also alleged that “American Horror Story” crewmembers had told them that “they’ll...

The life of Fallon Fox, the first openly transgender fighter in Mixed Martial Arts, is the subject of a new film in development at Mark Gordon Pictures.
Fox’s story will be scripted by wedded writing team T Cooper and Allison Glock-Cooper, whose credits include NBC’s “The Blacklist,” BBC America’s “Copper” and Netflix’s “The Get Down.”
Originally hiding her transgender identity when she began competing in Mma, Fox feared transphobia would bring rejection from the wildly popular league. After nearing the upper echelons in ring, a journalist threatened to out Fox, who then boldly told her truth in interviews with Outsports and Sports Illustrated. The stories both inspired and caused backlash as well as further transphobic rhetoric in a debate over whether a woman who was assigned male at birth should be able to fight in women’s divisions in Mma.
Fox will serve as a consultant on the project.

A biopic chronicling the life of Fallon Fox, the first openly transgender Mma fighter, is getting the big-screen treatment from Mark Gordon Pictures and husband and wife writing team T Cooper and Allison Glock-Cooper.
Fox originally hid her transgender identity when she began competing professionally as a mixed martial arts fighter, fearful that transphobia would lead to her being rejected by the league. As she began to triumph in the ring and neared the pro semifinals, Fox received the phone call she had been dreading: a journalist threatening to out her to the world. Fox took the narrative into her own hands, revealing that she is a transgender woman in an Outsports and Sports Illustrated article in 2013. What followed was an onslaught of vitriolic, transphobic abuse from the world press and the Mma league, and an explosively controversial debate over whether a woman who was assigned male at birth should...

Film-maker T Cooper has used the world’s only all-trans bodybuilding competition as the window into a kaleidoscope of trans male stories
In a locker room in Atlanta, a group of men – black, brown and spray-tanned, some carved like Hercules, others softer – flex their muscles. The camera lingers on their bodies, each hinting at larger stories – there are top surgery scars and bandages, chests with breast tissue. The gaze is direct and uncompromising, but not ogling – a scene of different presentations of masculinity literally presenting to judges, an audience and the camera of film-maker T Cooper.

In the relatively recent progress toward portraying authentic trans lives onscreen, trans men have often gotten the short end of the stick. Laverne Cox, Caitlyn Jenner, and Janet Mock have made great strides for trans visibility, and done it with grace and strength. “Pose,” “Tangerine,” “Euphoria,” and “Transparent” gave young trans feminine people a diverse array of role models and examples. Trans male characters have popped up on TV much more recently, but so far their presence has had a smaller impact. “Man Made,” a documentary about four trans men training for a trans bodybuilding competition out on VOD this week, won’t tip the scales heavily in the other direction, but it’s a poignant and worthy addition to the growing trans film canon.
The other distinction that sets “Man Made” apart is its director, T Cooper, a trans filmmaker and producer who has written for TV shows “The Blacklist...

An affecting portrait of four transgender men as they prepare for a bodybuilding competition, T Cooper's Man Made pushes beyond easy pieties to look at the various challenges faced by the men as well as their partners. Cooper often swings his camera around for a selfie, and he clearly forged an intimate rapport with his subjects, who address him frequently. Though body-building is what unites the participants, it recedes as a central aspect of the drama during the middle stretch until a traditional sports-movie climax, with body-sculpting providing a fitting vehicle for the film's themes of self-actualization and acceptance.
