Koka Arora is an American film director, screenwriter, and actor.
Born Sheru Arora in Long Island, New York, Koka claims his biggest influences were 90's buddy comedies and The Twilight Zone. After studying both Screenwriting and Directing at New School University, he went on to study Meisner Acting at Maggie Flanigan Studio in NYC. While there he wrote and directed Killing McCarren, a short film about a widower who kidnaps a bellhop (played by Cornelius McMoyler) and forces him to help blow up a hotel. It became an Official Selection at Palm Springs Film Festival LA.
In 2020 during the peak of the Covid years Koka was approached by Venkat Sai Gunda to write and direct The Deserving for a budget of less than $200,000.
Koka's next film, a short titled Bastard Toadflax about an underground fight club that takes place inside of freight trucks, Koka wrote and co-directed with his brother Juggy Arora. There wasn't enough budget to hire and actor to commit to the extensive body transformation and combat training required to fit the role, so Koka decided to do it himself. The film spans less than 13 minutes and required 18 months to shoot - 2 days in 2021 and 2 days in 2022.
He is fluent in English, Punjabi, and Hindu. His name "Koka Singh" was given to him from his friends in college for famously donning a nose ring.
