The series begins when a massive sinkhole opens at the La Brea Tar Pits in LA and pulls people, vehicles, and buildings into a time portal. The main characters end up in a location in 10,000 BC. The survivors’ search for a way back forms the plot of the three seasons.

There was no way the network could’ve pushed for more seasons, albeit a fourth season, after the challenges faced during the production of Season 3. The third season was much shorter than the first two seasons, with just six episodes as opposed to the 10 and 14 episodes of Seasons 1 and 2.

It's a real shame the series is ending because Magnum P.I. Season 5 has been the show at its very best, and there are plenty of ways it could continue.

Despite the cancellation, its passionate fans are not giving up the hope of finding the series a third home.

NBC’s official trailer for La Brea season three – the final season – teases new prehistoric beasts will terrorize the group. Plus, the trailer reveals a raging fire, new romances, and the promise that everyone will stick together in order to get out of this bizarre situation alive.

NBC also released the official poster for the upcoming final season which premieres on January 9, 2024 at 9pm Et/Pt.

The sci-fi drama stars Eoin Macken as Gavin Harris, Zyra Gorecki as Izzy Harris, Chiké Okonkwo as Ty Coleman, Rohan Mirchandaney as Scott Israni, Lily Santiago as Veronica Castillo, Josh Mckenzie as Lucas, and Jon Seda as Dr. Samuel Velez. NBC’s trippy sci-fi thriller La Brea just unveiled the first batch of season three photos ahead of its January 9, 2024 premiere. The network also released a short teaser trailer and confirmed the upcoming third season will be the series’ final season.

The final season kicks off with an episode titled “Sierra.” Per NBC: After the clearing’s destroyed in a dinosaur attack, the Survivors must find a new home to live. Gavin discovers a clue about where Eve has gone, but tracking the lead down results in more tragic consequences.

Season three will air on Tuesdays at 9pm Et/Pt. Season 3 of the NBC sci-fi drama La Brea will be its last. As Deadline reported exclusively in January, the series will conclude with an abbreviated season that will consist of 6 episodes.

La Brea will premiere on Tuesday, January 9 at 9 p.m. and serves as a lead-in to the season’s final two episodes of the hit fall drama Found.

Tuesdays are not the same without La Brea.

Although the series was initially billed as a sci-fi sinkhole drama, the series excelled as a family drama at its core. With so many facets, La Brea appeals to many audiences.

Fortunately, we don’t have to worry about it ending just yet. NBC renewed the series in January 2023, and La Brea Season 3 is coming. However, with the writers’ strike, the series’ future beyond the filmed episodes is uncertain.

How Did La Brea Season 2 End?

La Brea Season 2 Episode 14 left us with even more questions. It was one of the few episodes that explored the consequences of time-traveling since the series hadn’t explored that much since Josh and Riley returned from 1988.

As they keep up the ruse, Meera and Rama find themselves developing genuine chemistry, but this new arrangement brings yet another surprise.

NBC’s La Brea wraps up season two with episode 14 which begins with Gavin at death’s door. Episode 13 ended with Gavin (Eoin Macken) and his group discovering Moore’s backup portal just as a gigantic lizard attacked. Gavin was thrown aside and landed on a stalagmite that pierced his abdomen. (Ouch.) The good thing about this is that it won’t be Gavin making the plan on how to get out of this situation. I have no idea why people continue to listen to him!

NBC’s La Brea season two episode 12 opens with Gavin, Eve, and James placing flowers on Caroline’s grave. James has made contact with an ally who may help them take back the building now that Kira’s taken over.

Back in camp, Sam’s treating Silas who looks like he’s going to eventually recover. Gavin (Eoin Macken) and Izzy (Zyra Gorecki) argue over Levi, with Gavin convinced Levi’s made his choice and now they have to do what’s best for their family without him. Izzy doesn’t think they should turn their back on Levi that quickly.

NBC’s La Brea season two episode 11 is titled “The Wedding” but there’s a lot more going on besides the exchange of I Dos. Episode 11 opens with Caroline (Melissa Neal) and her dad, Silas, going over Dr. Moore’s notes, hoping they’ll lead to a solution on how to send Gavin and his family home. They’re not making any progress and are worried Gavin will turn to James for help. Silas (Mark Lee) regrets that he failed to protect Gavin from James all those years ago and dedicates himself to working on Moore’s notes.

He sends Caroline back to the camp to watch over her son. Seconds after she walks away, Silas is shot. The shooter picks up the now blood-spattered notes and leaves without showing their face.

A woolly rhino’s grazing is rudely interrupted by the opening of a portal and a man stepping through as NBC’s La Brea season two episode 10 gets underway. But before we learn who just arrived in 10,000 BC, we learn Eve’s feeling better following her encounter with a bear.

La Brea has been renewed for a third season, but the news may be less positive than we knew. Deadline reports that the NBC series has only been given a six-episode order for season three, and that would likely end the series. Filming of the half-dozen episodes will begin in March in Australia.

NBC’s La Brea season two episode eight ended with Gavin stopping the virus upload when it was 99 complete. Episode nine, “Murder in the Clearing,” picks up minutes later with Gavin (Eoin Macken) demanding to know his dad’s plan for getting them back home.

James (Jonno Roberts) claims his team’s on the verge of fixing the machine so it can be used safely. The catch? Dr. Harold Moore, the only scientist who understands the formula, is missing somewhere in 10,000 BC.

If Gavin can find him, then maybe they can all go home. And, it turns out, Gavin’s mom knows Harold and might know where to locate him.
