About eight months ago, we heard that Natasha Henstridge of the first two Species movies and John Carpenter’s Ghosts of Mars, among other credits, had signed on to star in Cinderella’s Revenge, which gives the classic fairy tale a horror twist. Last week, it was announced that the film is set to receive a theatrical release on April 26th, courtesy of Iconic Events. Now a trailer has arrived online to offer a glimpse of what this film has in store for us when it reaches the big screen, and you can check it out in the embed above.

This theatrical release is part of an exclusive deal with Regal, with Quiver Distribution handling all other rights in North America.

The film was in production in the UK at the time, with Andy Edwards (Zombie Spring Breakers) directing for Sobini Films. Cinderella’s Revenge has since made its way through post-production, and now The Wrap reports that it’s set to receive a theatrical release on April 26th, courtesy of Iconic Events. They note that this theatrical release is part of an exclusive deal with Regal, with Quiver Distribution handling all other rights in North America.

Starring Lauren Staerck (Curse of Jack Frost) as Cinderella, this take on the fairy tale will show us what happens when Cinderella’s wicked stepsisters and stepmother push her too far, leading her to swap her glass slippers in pursuit of blood-soaked vengeance with the help of her Fairy Godmother.

My immediate assumption was that Henstridge would be playing the wicked stepmother, but she’s actually taking on the role of the Fairy Godmother.

Freeze, the new film from writer/director Charlie Steeds tells of the good ship Innsmouth, it’s Captain Mortimer and a crew that includes first mate McCullough, Charles Redgrave an artist there to document the voyage, Lieutenant Roth, and Seaman Spriggs. Also, unbeknownst to the crew there’s Carmen (Beatrice Barrilà; Invisible – Chapter I) a stowaway with an agenda of her own. They’ve been sent to find out what happened to the expedition led by Mortimer’s friend Sir William Streiner which ventured into the frozen north and never returned. Unfortunately the Innsmouth becomes trapped in the ice and its crew face the same fate as those they were supposed to rescue.

Headed our way this winter is the next horror movie from director Charlie Steeds (The Barge People), the Lovecraftian creature feature Freeze from Dark Temple Motion Pictures.

The arctic horror movie won the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival’s Best Film Award 2022, which gives it some legit Lovecraft cred. You can watch the official trailer for Freeze below.

What a shocker, another Scott Jeffrey produced horror getting reviewed on Nerdly… I think we must have reviewed at least 80 of Jeffrey’s output across the handful of production companies he has. We’re not five minutes into Charlie Steeds’ new film, Werewolf Castle when he unleashes Wolfstan (Reece Connolly; A Werewolf in England) and his horde of lycanthropes on a Medieval town. They kill everyone they can find, including a young lass who they kill while her lover Thorfinn (Peter Lofsgard; The Mummy) hides.

Three knights Thomas (Greg Draven; Ravenswood), Osmond who is introduced as their fastest rider even though we never actually see them on horseback, Hamelin and the rogue Hal Skullsplitter (Jay O’Connell; The Legend of Jack and Jill) arrive to deal with the problem. But can they, and Thorfinn who is desperate to atone for his cowardice, find a way to stop these creatures?

Well, to be fair, I don’t see too many people trying to review each and every genre film Jeffrey puts out – mainly because there’s a lot of snobbish reviewers out there who, even if they love genre cinema, seem to give these ultra-low budget British films a short shrift. Not us. Well me I mean. No matter the subject matter, no matter the budget I typically find something interesting in each and every one of the films he’s worked on. The second dinosaur-themed movie from producer/director Scott Jeffrey in the space of two weeks (the first being Dinosaur Hotel), Hatched sees obsessive scientist Simon (Thomas Loone) discover a way to bring dinosaurs back to life. Big mistake (obviously). His creations escape and proceed to eat him; and his wife Christine (Amanda-Jade Tyler), leaving only his son Mark alive.

Driving into this mess are Simon’s family who decide today’s the day they want to pay their estranged family member a visit. Big mistake (again). Simon’s family find him dead, eaten by his creations with only mark left behind. Only – apparently – Mark shouldn’t be alive. Yes, you’ve guessed it, Jeffrey and co.

Ah the laws of diminishing returns… Tooth Fairy: The Last Extraction is the second sequel the less-than-stellar original film, which was pretty bad – even for low-budget British film. In fact that first film was a blight on the record of Champ Dog Films who had – until then – been making inroads into the UK genre scene for some time, often overcoming shortcomings, be they budget, production values or performances, to create genre fare worthy of carry the tag of “ a great British Horror film.” Luckily for Champ Dog they managed to strike a deal with US distributors, finding success on the shelves of Walmart’s across the States… which, one would assume, is how we’ve got to a Third film in...
