Born and brought up in Kolkata, Shamaun started his career as a DJ when he was just a teenager. He later transitioned to modeling and trained as an actor with theatre director Ramanjit Kaur, followed by Santanu Bose of NSD, as well as a brief stint with Jayant Kripalani.
Shamaun has featured in over 50 regional & national ad films in India, working with reputed directors such as Ashim Ahluwalia, Oni Sen, Anik Dutta, Amit Sengupta, Anirudh Roy Chowdhury to name a few. Notable roles in Bengal include a cameo in National Award-winning director Bappaditya Bandhopadhyay's 'Elar Char Adhyay' (2012), a friendly appearance in Manoj Michigan's 'Damadol' (2013), and the role of the protagonist in the short film 'Identity' (2015). Shamaun took a brief sabbatical from acting, but returned as Qasim Baloch in the Netflix series 'Bard of Blood' (2019), followed by Anand in 'The Girl on The Train' (2021).
Shamaun is also passionate about cars and bikes, and creates custom builds through Shamaun Ahmed Customs.
