Hortência Marcari was born on September 23, 1959 is a former Brazilian basketball player. Considered one of the greatest female athletes in her sport and as the best FIBA world cup player of all time in 2018, entered the United States Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002, and the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005. She started playing for the Brazilian basketball team at the age of 16 and, after the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Hortência retired permanently.
