Priscilla Movie Review Out! (Picture Credit: IMDb)
What’s Good: Cailee Spaeny shines as Priscilla, skillfully portraying the evolving character. The film captures the quintessential Coppola-esque visuals, showcasing mid-century America’s aesthetic charm. The initial sequence is a visual delight, highlighting Priscilla’s iconic appearance with authenticity
What’s Bad: Despite its aesthetic charm, “Priscilla” succumbs to a formulaic biopic style, narrating the highs and lows of the protagonist’s life in a mundane, episodic manner. The scenarios lack the momentum needed to elevate the film beyond its visual appeal.
Loo Break: A suitable loo break in this narrative could be after Elvis reconnects with Priscilla in 1962 and invites her to live at Graceland. This marks a transition in the story,...

"She just got me and I trusted her." A24 has debuted a new behind-the-scenes featurette for Sofia Coppola's Priscilla, her superb film about Priscilla and Elvis Presley. This premiered at the 2023 Venice Film Festival last month, winning the key Best Actress prize for star Cailee Spaeny. Through Priscilla's eyes, Sofia Coppola tells the unseen side of a great American myth in Elvis and Priscilla's long courtship and turbulent marriage, from a German army base to his dream-world estate at Graceland, in this deeply felt & ravishingly detailed portrait of love, fantasy, and fame. Cailee Spaeny stars as Priscilla, with Jacob Elordi as Elvis Presley, and an ensemble cast including Raine Monroe Boland, Dagmara Domińczyk, Emily Mitchell, Jorja Cadence, Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll, and Luke Humphrey. One of the better films arriving this fall - it comes highly recommended. The main official trailer premiered a few weeks ago, and the film opens in early November.

Sure, it’s not easy being a king, but have you tried being married to one? After teasing it earlier this year, A24 has shared the first full-length trailer for Priscilla, Sofia Coppola’s upcoming biopic based on Mrs. Presley’s 1985 memoir Elvis and Me.
American high schooler Priscilla Beaulieu (Cailee Spaeny) is still adjusting to her family’s relocation to Germany when — in a moment almost too good to be true — she meets one Elvis Presley (Jacob Elordi) at a party. It doesn’t take much for the world’s hottest star to become smitten, much to the (understandable!) chagrin of Priscilla’s parents: “Just what is the intent here, Mr. Presley?” her father asks. “Why my daughter?”
Elvis justifies pursuing a girl ten years his junior because “she’s much more mature than her age,” a remark that usually doesn’t come from the most well-meaning men. But...

While this is another A24 feature production to nab an interim agreement, the film gets a clearance by SAG-AFTRA due to the fact that the movie was shot in Canada under the production company Tcb Productions Canada.

A24 just released the first trailer for Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla, a film chronicling the life and love story of how a young Priscilla Beaulieu became Mrs. Presley. Based on her 1985 book Elvis and Me, the biopic is slated to hit theaters this October.
Cailee Spaeny stars as Priscilla alongside Jacob Elordi’s Elvis. The clip opens with Spaeny steadily getting dolled up in the winged eyeliner, faux lashes, and big hair Presley was known for, before revealing she’s getting dressed for her wedding day. Interspersed between those shots are ones showing Priscilla as an impressionable schoolgirl who becomes enamored with Elvis after meeting him at a party, while Spectrum’s “How You Satisfy Me” plays in the background.

David Bowie’s life and career are memorialized in the new trailer for “Stardust” starring Johnny Flynn from IFC Films.
“Stardust” will examine the life of Bowie before he became one of the most iconic artists in the history of music. The drama is set in 1971, when Bowie was 24 and journeying on his first trip to America with his struggling publicist Ron Oberman, played by Marc Maron. During this period, Bowie created his alter-ego Ziggy Stardust, a turning point in his legendary career that marked the beginning of his meteoric rise.
Johnny Flynn, singer and songwriter for the band Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit, will portray Bowie. His previous acting credits include Autumn de Wilde’s “Emma” from earlier this year, “Beast” in 2017, the 2014 drama “Clouds of Sils Maria” and more.
Fellow cast members include Maron, Aaron Poole as Bowie’s guitarist Mick Ronson, Roanna Cocharne, Jorja Cadence, Annie Briggs,...

Director Chad Archibald first came to my attention with the slasher that isn’t half as popular as it should be, The Drownsman (it could easily be an ongoing franchise). He followed that up with the intriguing Ejecta and then the gross-out body horror of Bite. The Heretics is the latest offering from a director that is not afraid to shake things up.
The Heretics takes what is a simple story of a woman being kidnapped and turns it completely on its head. What we also get are cults, suicides, crazy girlfriends and some sort of demon. That’s quite a lot to pack into an hour and twenty five minutes. But pack it in it does and the time flies by… Pretty much jumping straight into...

*full disclosure: an online screener was provided by the film's pr' firm. Direct: Chad Archibald. Writer: Jayme Laforest. Cast: Nina Kiri, Ry Barret, Jorja Cadence, Nina Richmond and Will King. Black Fawn Films is likely the biggest Canadian indie horror film producer. This film company has completed at least eight titles, in just a few years. Their latest is titled The Heretics and it was written by Jayme Laforest, who also wrote 2015's Bite. Both films deal with body horror and a female protagonist. This title incorporates one of the worst sex scenes, in recent film history. Always say no to demon sex, no matter how attractive the offer is. The story, within the film, deals with the birth of a demon - Abaddon and his desire to end the world. Similar to Jon Knautz's The Shrine (2011), characters are overcome through possession. In The Heretics, this reduces the protagonist's ability to resist evil.
