It’s been 22 years since Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan first swapped bodies in “Freaky Friday,” but they’re ready to do it again with a new generation in Disney’s “Freakier Friday,” out in theaters next month.

At Tuesday night’s world premiere at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, the Oscar-winning actress explained why audiences need feel-good movies like this highly anticipated sequel to the 2003 family classic now more than ever.

“There’s math involved. You couldn’t make this movie if Lindsay didn’t have a teenage daughter, so she had to be old enough,” Curtis told TheWrap. “And there’s a nostalgia about the movie. In a time of turmoil, you cling to something nostalgic and familiar, so it’s like comfort food.”

“I think ‘Freaky Friday’ is sort of cinema comfort food: it’s satisfying, makes you feel good, makes you laugh, makes you cry.

Emmy winner Maya Rudolph returns to lead the cast of Apple TV+’s Loot for season three, premiering on October 15, 2025 with the release of the first two episodes. New episodes of the 10-episode season will stream on Wednesdays.

Maya Rudolph’s “Loot” finally has a Season 3 premiere date — along with a new teaser promising more billionaire shenanigans as well as resolution for the Season 2 finale’s romantic cliffhanger.

Apple TV+ revealed Tuesday that the comedy series will return Oct. 15 with the first two episodes, followed by new installments Wednesdays through Dec. 10. A teaser for the new season featured Rudolph’s Molly Wells gently caressing a giant crystal, before the camera moved to her coworker/love interest Arthur (Nat Faxon) in her kitchen, a promising sign of their relationship status after the Season 2 finale left it on a cliffhanger.

An underrated and forgotten improv comedy film from 2023 is finding new life on streaming as Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain is a hit on Peacock. Their first film, Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain is essentially a feature-length version of the trio's comedic skits. I feel like we’ve got something good, and I love the dynamic, but fresh blood always turns things up a little bit.” Now Variety has confirmed that a sequel to The Blackening is officially in development!

The Blackening didn’t exactly set the box office of fire, earning just $18.5 million… but since the movie had a budget of $3 million (plus another $2 million for marketing), that’s enough for producer MRC and domestic distributor Lionsgate to feel that it’s worth going back to for a sequel. Variety notes, “producer MRC and domestic distributor Lionsgate have entered into talks with Dewayne Perkins, Tracy Oliver and producer E. Brian Dobbins to develop a follow-up film.”

The first film was made on a production budget of just $5 million, so there’s needless to say lots of potential for this to become a profitable Scary Movie-type horror franchise.

Peacock has shared the official trailer for Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain, the first feature-length film from Saturday Night Live’s comedic trio. Watch the trailer below.

Starring Please Don’t Destroy’s Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy, the new film is set to premiere on Peacock on November 17th, and was produced by Judd Apatow and Jimmy Miller. It follows the trio’s search for the treasure of Foggy Mountain, rumored to be worth $100 million, as they face everything from broken-down cars, freaky cults, hairless bears, and more.

Joining Marshall, Higgins, and Herlihy is an ensemble cast including John Goodman, Conan O’Brien, Bowen Yang, Meg Stalter, X Mayo, Cedric Yarbrough, Nichole Sakura, Sunita Mani, and more. The film was directed by frequent SNL collaborator Paul Briganti.

The trio, who have become rising stars on the NBC late-night show, are behind Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain.

They have debuted the first-look at the feature above, which has a new title, ahead of its premiere on Peacock on November 17.

Lionsgate gave director Tim Story’s horror comedy The Blackening a theatrical release on June 16th, with a Premium VOD release following last Friday, July 7th. Now they have announced that a digital release is coming down the line on August 15th, with the 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD release following on August 22nd. The 4K will be released in a combo pack with the Blu-ray, and there will also be a combo pack that contains the Blu-ray, the DVD, and the digital release. Copies are already available for pre-order on Amazon.

Story directed The Blackening from a screenplay by Tracy Oliver and Dewayne Perkins. Inspired by a Perkins-scripted 3Peat comedy sketch that aired on Comedy Central in 2018, the film is about a group of Black friends who go away for the weekend only to find themselves trapped in a cabin with a killer who forces them to play a game with life-or-death consequences.
