Martin Higgins began studying music at the age of nine, and trained at the University of Birmingham, England specialising in composition and orchestration. During his studies he was a finalist in Sibelius' student composer of the year award, a competition aimed at promoting the next generation of film composers. The competition was judged by a number of top industry professionals including Academy Award winner Dario Marianelli and Satellite Award winner Harry Gregson-Williams. Since receiving his bachelor's degree he has worked continuously in both the theatre and film music industries.
Martin has worked in the music department for a number of Hollywood films including the Disney blockbuster Cinderella (2015), A United Kingdom (2016) and the upcoming Murder on the Orient Express (2017). He collaborated with the composer Jack Blume to provide the orchestrations and background scores for several award-winning Tamil films including; Uttama Villain (2015), Papanasam (2015) and Vaagai Sooda Vaa (2011). His successful collaboration with Jack led to the formation of Movie Music London, a company specialising in providing music for use in film, theatre and television all over the world.
Outside of his work in film, Martin has provided orchestrations for many shows playing in London's West End theatre district including 'Working' (Southwark Playhouse - Music by Stephen Schwartz, 'Sondheim: Smiles of A Summer Night' (Cadogan Hall - Music by Stephen Sondheim and 'Kings of Broadway' (Palace Theatre - Music by Stephen Sondheim, Jule Styne and Jerry Herman
