John Ondo is a distinguished filmmaker and television producer specializing in documentaries. His television career began in 1982 at WTLW-TV, where he worked as a Director and Producer. During his time there, John developed his skills by creating nationally recognized programs in talk shows, sports, and documentaries. His passion for live television propelled him into on-air production and reporting, earning him two Emmy nominations in the 1990s and establishing his reputation as a storyteller who pushes creative boundaries.
In 2000, John relocated to Columbus, Ohio, where he took on roles as Operations Manager, Senior Producer, and Media Director for several faith-based national television ministries. Over the next decade, he produced numerous syndicated programs that resonated with young audiences. In 2008, he founded Ondo Media, focusing on documentary filmmaking, television production, and consulting.
John's documentary work has garnered four Emmy Awards and ten Telly Awards throughout his career. His 2022 feature length documentary "Station Identification" was honored at over a dozen film festivals. He is also recognized for his expertise in coaching and building media teams, emphasizing the latest trends in Transmedia Storytelling, which involves using multiple media platforms to convey a cohesive story. He travels worldwide, inspiring media teams, and is a member of the National Religious Broadcasters, where he serves as vice Chair of the TV committee.
John is the father of three children from his first marriage and is married to his wife, Angel, since 2015. They reside in New Albany, Ohio. In addition to filmmaking, he has a passion for travel, history, and sports cars.
