Opening with a text crawl telling the viewer about the controversial video game franchise Hazard Waster and its anti-hero Waxx Waster, 16 Bits quickly introduces us to Phillip. Said introduction involves a pizza delivery guy named Kevin, a set of nipple clamps and images of him masturbating while screaming “I hate you!” at a picture of his ex, Alice, which should give you an idea what to expect from the rest of the film.
It’s his birthday and he’s got a cake, a pizza with some mushrooms to put on it, and his copy of Hazard Waster. He just doesn’t have anyone to share them with because Doug, Flynn, Bobby and everyone else has blown him off. He...

50 Caliber Productions in association with Bronx Bridge Films, World One Tv and Sky Island Storytelling present Craving.
Craving is a monster movie / crime thriller that follows a group of drug addicts besieged by masked figures inside a rural bar. As withdrawal starts to set in, a secret one of them is carrying threatens to destroy them all.
Starring Felissa Rose, Kevin Caliber, Ashley Undercuffler, Holly Rockwell and Al Gomez
Produced by Kevin Caliber, Ashley Undercuffler, Robert Bravo and Sean Reid.
Executive Producer Chris Brown
“Craving is set in 1998. It’s an homage to my young adulthood and the movies of the time. I’ve always loved genre mash-ups and one of my favorites is the crime thriller/horror movie. I love when you take characters that live outside normal society and the law, and put them in a situation where they can’t count on any of those things to help them.

What if a character from a 16-bit fighting game came to life in the real world? The humorous and violent answer to that question is explored in the upcoming action movie 16 Bits from writer/director Aaron Mento (Ugly Sweater Party), and before the movie begins filming this November, an Indiegogo campaign has been launched for the ambitious project.
To learn more about 16 Bits, check out the press release and video below, and visit the film's official Indiegogo campaign page.
Press Release: Hollywood, CA, USA -- The lines between reality and video games blur in 16 Bits, when a lonely loser befriends a violent street fighter who emerges from an old 16-bit fighting game.
“Packed with exciting characters, a wicked sense of humor and bone crunching action, 16 Bits is a wild, surreal rollercoaster ride,” says producer J. Horton. This is one of the first features produced by J. Horton that he also didn't direct.

I think we can now say it is officially the festive season. So this means that I will try to watch as many Christmas movies as humanly possible throughout December (and the end of November). Ugly Sweater Party comes under the banner of Christmas horror comedy, so it hasn’t got a whole lot of competition.
I have previously enjoyed director Aaron Mento’s work. Starting with the unique and entertaining Standards of Living and then moving on to the very clever series idea of Choose Their Kill (look it up and enjoy), so when I discovered he was the director of Ugly Sweater Party my expectations were a little higher. There is a point on the map that, during the second weekend of June each year, is transformed into what must truly be the safest place on Earth. How could it not be when you see Superman standing on a street corner, and all it takes is a turn of the head to see a second, a third, and a whole lot more blue and red? This is Metropolis, Il, official hometown of the Man of Steel and location for the annual Superman Celebration. “I felt so safe just walking the street and said to myself, ‘There’s no trouble going to be made here,’” laughs former Marine turned actor Kevin Caliber, who played the Man of Steel (in silhouette) on Season 1 of the CW’s Supergirl and stars in the independent film Supermen: World War, which he was promoting at the celebration, in costume. “Where I come from, in Los Angeles,...

*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by director Jason Horton. This film critic and Jason Horton have worked together on this project, including though online marketing. Tagline: "The Devil Will Take Your Soul...One Piece at a Time." Director/writer: J. Horton. Cast: Rachel Amanda Bryant, Brit Sheridan, Scott Menville and Robert C. Pullman. The Campus is the latest film from director Jason Horton (Monsters in the Woods, 2012). This time, Horton makes a deal with the Devil, in this small budget horror title. With one trailer already out there and the show racing to Us screens ready for its October premiere, there is a new teaser for Supergirl, which stars Whiplash’s Melissa Benoist. The show’s story follows Kara Zor-El, born on Krypton as Kal-El’s cousin and, like him, saved from its destruction. After arriving on Earth, she was taken in by the Danvers family, who taught her to be careful with her powers. Now, though, she’s decided to put them to good use... Calista Flockhart is aboard as Cat Grant, Kara’s media mogul boss, with Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw and Chyler Leigh as Alexandra Danvers, Kara’s confident foster sister. In the pilot, we also get a glimpse of Superman himself, here played by Kevin Caliber, presumably because CBS can’t afford to pay Warner Bros. all the money for the rights...

Executive Producer Ali Adler has discussed the role of Superman in the upcoming Supergirl series on CBS...
One of the big questions when the first Supergirl trailer landed a few months ago was the matter of Superman. We'd already heard that a body-double for The Big Blue Boy Scout had been sought, but the trailer only showed him in an obscured form, and the word 'Superman' was never uttered. Would we only see his outline, then? Would Supes only be referred to as 'my cousin' for the duration of the show?
Now, executive producer Ali Adler has opened up about Superman's role in the show, and it would seem that he will indeed be quite peripheral to proceedings. "Our prototype is the way the president is seen on Veep," Adler said, referring to a show that rarely shows Potus, but mentions him a lot. By the way, er, Sue? Did the President call?...
