Herman, an out-of-the-box thinker, is proud of his academic qualifications and experience in seven professions, namely in Creative Arts (Film & TV), Counseling, Human Resource Management, Legal Studies, Training & Development, Marketing, and Food & Beverage Operations. He has been attached to the hospitality/service industry since 1981. A Professional Hotelier and a University Lecturer made the unbelievable decision to turn into a filmmaker to fulfill a childhood dream since migrating to Australia in 2008. The passion-driven motivation for his new life journey made him set clear objectives and the primary focus was to establish himself in the international film festival circuit with three short films, before aiming to direct his first feature. Therefore, Herman took film directing courses at Open Channel and the Australian Film Base and did a course on Modern Cinematography conducted by the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS). Thereafter, he directed/produced/wrote three short films titled Deeper (2019), Unpredictable (2016), and Flat Grey Sky (2013). Having won many accolades for the second and third short films (aforementioned) at festivals; 'Unpredictable' also paved the way for a Degree at Deakin University, Burwood, Australia, where he completed the Bachelor of Creative Arts in Film and Television (2017-2019) with a 'Distinction.' The script written in the last semester at the university for the final assessment titled 'The Owl', won the 'Script of the Festival' award at the Catharsis Film Festival, Belgium in 2020, and also won the 'Best Short Script' award at the Indo Global International Film festival, India in 2019. Furthermore, WESCREENPLAY, BULLETPROOF, and SCRIPT READER PRO, the world's best three script readers commenting on Herman's maiden feature script SUNNY'S MANSION as a "unique story" inspired Herman to transform the horror/thriller script into a truly dynamic film. Herman trusts "Sunny's Mansion" to be an ideal debut film to prove his present capacity of film knowledge and his high level of passion for creative movie making.
