As heartbreaking as it is, it’s time for fans to bid goodbye to their Franky, as Kazuki Yao’s retirement has been officially announced. Throughout One Piece, Eiichiro Oda has excellently connected many plot lines together, creating a continuous stream of events. For instance, the return of Crocodile and Bon Chan in Impel Down or Kuma’s connection to Luffy’s journey. All these coincidences that tie together different phases of the overarching narrative wouldn’t have been possible without the thousands of chapters.

However, the length of the series is a double-edged sword and leaves many plot points unanswered as well. A character who showcases how the length of One Piece is both a blessing and a curse is Laboon. The giant whale’s character arc highlights how the length of the series gives room for valuable developments while leaving some important events unaddressed.

When someone says shonen, Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach are the first titles that come to mind. The Big Three anime are the representatives of the shonen spirit that is now being carried out by the modern lot. They all handle popular tropes differently from one another, especially Bleach.

Whether it’s the protagonist or the world-building, Bleach sets itself apart from most mainstream series. Tite Kubo often deviated from the typical plot progression usually seen in shonen stories. Fans pointed out one such instance that makes one wonder if Bleach was ever truly shonen. We believe it was not, and here’s why.

The characters in One Piece have a strong set of values, from Luffy to Bon Chan, everyone has a belief system that they usually don’t defy.

The success of One Piece Live Action has exposed the colossal and colorful world of One Piece to a new section of people. Some of them might not even be familiar with the scale at which the story expands. Compared to what we have seen in the live-action so far, the goofiness is off the charts in the manga. In his unique way, Eiichiro Oda has incorporated many elements in the story which are not as common in Shonen anime and manga.

Naruto and One Piece are the two heavyweights in the anime realm that have captivated millions of fans worldwide. With Naruto‘s deep exploration on the shinobi world and the powerful Jutsu contrasting One Piece‘s vast world-building; each series brings something unique to the table. However, there is one aspect where Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece totally outshines Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto, which is in the development of its minor characters.

This disparity becomes even more visible when comparing Kishimoto’s treatment of some of the overhyped yet less developed characters to Oda’s masterful attention to detail. In One Piece, even some of the minor characters are given richly detailed backstories that not only enhance their depth but also have an essential impact on the plot.
