Born and raised in Western New York State, just outside the breathtaking wonder of Niagara Falls, Cynthia Gerber was born Cynthia Anna LaForest being the only daughter and youngest of three children to Paul and Frances LaForest. Married to fellow actor John Gerber in 1998, Cynthia is the mother of 3 daughters, and an artist of many forms. She is an actor, a writer, a musician, a vocalist, a sketch artist, and a photographer. She is also a scientist of biology, an animal rights advocate, and a teacher. The stage has always felt like a second home to Cynthia, spending her youth developing vocal abilities and finding a passion performing musically both on and off the stage. As that passion grew into her adult life, she has worked and continues to work with many talented local musicians. Cynthia spent over a decade singing for the acoustic duo NiteOwls, along side fellow actor Denny Soliday, telling stories through song while playing various stages in Western New York State. Her love and appreciation for film started at a very young age, and was driven by both a healthy imagination and admiration for the craft. After a lead role in the play "The Locket", and with positive encouraging reviews, Cynthia discovered that storytelling was her strength, feeling the call to continue bringing stories to life not only as a musician, but also as an actor. The next chapter of her performing career began in early 2013, when she was offered the opportunity to use her photographic skills on the Independent Short, "Suicide" (2014) written and directed by Matt Lord. From that opportunity she caught the eye of writer, director and cinematographer Jon Ferrari. Cynthia was offered and accepted her first lead female role as Katrina, in Jon Ferrari's Independent Thriller/Comedy feature film, "Within" (2014) directed by Ken Cosentino. Cynthia embraced the art of feature film making with passion, love and dedication. With the desire to express story telling in the most rewarding and purest form, Cynthia is ready to spend the rest of her film career dedicated to improving her craft, and sharing that dedication and love with the world.
