Back in 2016, we were happy to share Nikhil Bhagat's atmospheric short film As They Continue to Fall (written by C. Robert Cargill), and in his new short film, The Wheel, Bhagat introduces us to a demonic toy Ferris wheel that offers a one-way ticket to Hell for those unfortunate enough to cross its path. You can get your own "ticket to ride" by watching The Wheel right here on Daily Dead... just be prepared to encounter a cursed item that would be right at home behind glass in the Warrens' Occult Museum!
Press Release: Directed by Nikhil Bhagat, The Wheel is a twisted tale about a toy Ferris wheel, demonic entities, and a ride to hell.
In The Wheel, a woman receives an antique toy Ferris wheel from her husband to sell in their shop. However, once nightfall hits, the wheel is not as innocent as it seems -...

Screenwriter and author C. Robert Cargill is no stranger to the creepy, the weird and the just plain bonkers, thanks to his work on the chilling “Sinister” film franchise and his popular “Dreams and Shadows” fantasy book series. And next month, things are going to get all the more strange — so sorry — when Scott Derrickson’s “Doctor Strange” hits the big screen, co-written by Cargill himself.
But if you can’t wait until November 4 to check out what the Texas native has been working on, you can check out a brand new short, penned by Cargill and directed by Nikhil Bhagat, that harnesses some of the scribe’s greatest strengths, including an evocative setting, a complex leading character and some unexpected twists.

I've got an awesome short film for you to watch today called "As They Continue to Fall." The film was written by C.Robert Cargill, who is the screenwriter of Doctor Strange and Sinister. The story follows an aging homeless man who hunts down fallen angels in a crime-filled dystopian society.
Director Nikhil Bhagat did an amazing job bringing the story to life, and it has some beautiful cinematography. The director explained that he wanted to create a film that felt "as grounded and realistic as possible."
This would actually make a great film or TV series, so hopefully, someone in Hollywood takes notice. ...

As They Continue To Fall has a rather fun origin story. A few years ago screenwriter C. Robert Cargill (Sinister) was active on Reddit, where he'd occasionally cross paths in a screenwriting subreddit with a young man named Nikhil Bhagat. Bhagat was about to start working on his thesis project for film school, but didn't have a script he liked. He took a big swing and asked Cargill if he'd want to write it. Much to his surprise, Cargill said yes. Bhagat then took that script and ran with it, creating a slickly-made short film about a seemingly homeless drifter who is somehow caught up in a war with angels. And now the filmmaker is trying to take things even further, wanting to turn the short into a feature film. It certainly seems like this is just the tip of the...

Fallen angels—by definition, they’re supposed to be assholes. But what if you were the only one who could see them? That’s the intriguing premise posed by As They Continue To Fall, a new six-minute-long short penned by C. Robert Cargill, the writer of Sinister and Doctor Strange. An unknown man, weathered and beaten, looks to take out one of the formerly heaven-dwelling flyers as we get snippets of his life, past and present. The director, Nikhil Bhagat, keeps things dimly lit, both visually and narratively, as it raises as many questions as it answers. Short films, by necessity of length, are about introducing concepts and stories without providing full conclusions, unless you want to turn your mini-movie into a cinematic hallmark card, so the spark of imagination triggered by the limited time frame plays a huge role. And by that standard, this is a damn cool little...

In Hollywood, a creative’s track record is usually the best indication of whether or not their next film will be any good or not. However, when it comes to relatively new talent, there’s really no way for us to know what direction a movie may head in, quality-wise. This is the case with C. Robert Cargill, a man who started off as an internet film critic (for such sites as Spill) before writing his first big feature with Sinister, the acclaimed horror film.
Cargill continued onto Sinister 2, a well-intentioned film with very little of the quality that the first one had. It was off of that film that the screenwriter secured a co-writing job at Marvel Studios for Doctor Strange with previous collaborator Scott Derrickson at the helm. Of course, as film fans, this leaves us all a bit confused as to what we can expect from the film.
