‘Waller’ was confirmed for development in 2022 as a spinoff of ‘Peacemaker’, with Viola Davis returning as the lead character. Recent updates indicate that the show will have a serious tone, in contrast to the comedic approach of ‘Peacemaker’, reflecting Waller’s character.

Originally slated for release in 2024, delays are expected due to director James Gunn’s focus on other Dcu projects. While some sources still mention a 2024 release, 2025 seems more likely.

New additions to the official IMDb page reveal stunt doubles, offering hints about the characters we can expect in the show, though details about the plot remain scarce.

Greg Fitzpatrick will double for Frank Grillo, Nhut Le will portray Vigilante as a stunt actor, Cali Nelle will stand in for Djimon Hounsou, Christopher Tardieu will serve as Sebastian Faust’s double, and Nico Woulard will double for Corey Hawkins.

The name “Vigilante” refers to two characters in the DC Universe.

‘Waller’ was confirmed to be in development back in 2022 as a spinoff of ‘Peacemaker’, with Viola Davis reprising her role as the titular character, recently it’s been confirmed that the show will not be comedy-oriented as ‘Peacemaker’ as Waller is much more serious character, and the show will try to reflect that tone.

‘Waller’ was supposed to be released in 2024, but the fact that Gunn is now focusing on the rest of the Dcu projects, the best-case scenario is that the show gets released in 2025, even though the 2024 release date is still present in some sources.

Since little is known regarding the overall plot of the movie, and the characters set to appear in it, we were delighted when new names appeared on the official IMDb page for the show. Mostly stunt-doubles are in question, but they do reveal what kind of characters we can expect.

Purposely created to be “un-skippable” (meaning, you’d never reach for the Skip Intro button), Peacemaker‘s Season 1 credits quickly amassed many a fan and critical rave. Barging into each episode with the first shouts of Wig Wam’s “Do Ya Wanna Taste It,” the 90-second song-and-dance number — choreographed by Charissa-Lee Barton, directed by Gunn and filmed over one day in a high school...

Peacemaker explores the continuing story of the character that John Cena reprises in the aftermath of Gunn’s 2021 film “The Suicide Squad” – a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it. The first three episodes of the DC spin-off series premiered Thursday, January 13 and runs through February 17.

While Gunn wrote all eight episodes of Peacemaker and directed five, including the first, it’s the 5th episode titled “Monkey Dory” that has become the standout story of the first season.

Any doubt that HBO Max’s Peacemaker series would have the same energy, style, and sense of humor that writer-director James Gunn brought to last year’s feature film The Suicide Squad is dispelled within seconds of the superhero show’s opening-credits sequence. It is essentially an Eighties-style music video, with the homicidal title character, played once again by John Cena, and his supporting cast performing a choreographed dance number on a neon-lit stage while the Norwegian glam-metal band Wig Wam’s song “Do Ya Wanna Taste It” shreds in the background.

Concurrent with the release of the teaser above, it was announced at DC FanDome this weekend that Peacemaker will kick off its eight-episode run on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022.

Peacemaker has a lot to learn — but luckily for fans of the problematically heroic “douche” and “[a–]hole” (as The Suicide Squad‘s James Gunn himself has put it), he won’t smooth out too many of those rough edges in just one season of TV.

Freddie Stroma will be suiting up as DC Comics’ Vigilante aka Adrian Chase in Peacemaker, HBO Max’s spinoff of the upcoming The Suicide Squad movie.

Fresh off roles in both Netflix’s Bridgerton and The Crew, Stroma replaces Chris Conrad (Patriot, Perpetual Grace Ltd), who was originally cast in the role but parted ways with the series “amicably due to creative differences” (Deadline reports).

truTV is keeping the laughs coming, renewing Impractical Jokers for Season 10, ahead of the show’s Season 9 premiere tonight, Feb. 4 at 10/9c.

Exclusive: Nhut Le has been cast to recur on HBO Max’s Peacemaker as Judomaster.

In DC lore, the character has been seen in three different previous iterations. The first Judomaster premiered in Special War Series #4 back in November 1965, created by Joe Gill and Frank McLaughlin. Originally known as Hadley “Rip” Jagger, he was a sergeant in the World War II U.S. Army. The Charlton Comics character was ultimately sold to DC. A different Judomaster was created by Paul Kupperberg and artist Michael Collins for Justice League Quarterly #14 (1994), in which the new Judomaster assists Blue Bettle, Captain Atom and Nightshade in joining Peter Cannon’s battle against Andreas Havoc. There was also a female Judomaster, Sonia Sato, who was part of the Birds of Prey (#100 in 2007).
