From the very first moments of “Severance,” Mark’s (Adam Scott) missing wife Gemma (Dichen Lachman) has haunted the Apple TV+ original series. But it wasn’t until after Season 1 that the show discovered how devastating Gemma’s loss truly was.
“That was something I felt very grateful to Ben [Stiller] and Dan [Erickson] about. They really let us have a say in shaping some of that backstory,” Jen Tullock, who plays Mark’s sister Devon, told TheWrap.
Before filming on Season 2 started, Tullock had a lunch with Erickson where she pitched the idea that the four of them — Mark, Gemma, Devon and her husband Ricken (Michael Chernus) — used to be an incredibly tight-knit group. It’s a dynamic that makes sense considering Mark and Devon’s relationship. Though Mark is often shown as being annoyed by his brother-in-law, they came up...

[Editor’s note: The following review contains spoilers for “Severance” Season 2, Episode 7, “Chikhai Bardo.” For coverage of earlier episodes, read our previous reviews.]
“Where did you go?”
The first time we hear that question, it’s the start of Episode 7, and Gemma (Dichen Lachman) is somewhere deep within Lumon headquarters having her blood drawn. Watching the small vials with green lids fill up one by one, Gemma’s mind drifts back to when she first met Mark (Adam Scott) at a blood drive held in the campus library. Back then, they were just fellow teachers making the most of some downtime during a shared good deed, unaware their polite yet potent flirtation over a research paper titled “All Quiet on the Western Blunt” would alter the rest of their lives.
That’s the way love goes, though. It tends to arrive as if from nowhere and then, suddenly, it’s like it’s always been a part of you.

After he dropped to the ground last week, there was certainly some concern about how Mark (Adam Scott) would survive. Luckily, “Chikhai Bardo” — the seventh episode of season 2 — places us directly in his mind. Using kaleidoscopic editing and visuals, Gemma (Dichen Lachman) occupies the center of the episode and ties to larger questions in Severance. Doing so provides us with a pivotal backstory to their relationship. It also reveals a devilish figure lurking in the background of Severance.

Jen Tullock, who plays Devon on Severance, is reflecting on that reveal from a recent episode of the Apple TV+ hit.
If you didn’t hear, at one point, Devon tells her brother, Mark S., that she had a crush on the woman at the birthing cottage. That woman was Gabby Arteta, the wife of a senator, who was discovered to have undergone the severance procedure in order to avoid her outtie giving birth.
Jen is reflecting on the reveal that Devon is queer.

Parade asked her, “When Devon says she has a crush on the lady who was pregnant, is this the first time we hear anything about her sexuality on the show?”
She responded, “Yes, that was improvised, and I was so stoked that they left it in. [Creator Dan Erickson] and I had talked about Devon’s backstory, and that she was probably queer,...

Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for Season 2, Episode 5 of “Severance,” now streaming on Apple TV+.
Things get real awkward between Mark (Adam Scott) and Helly (Britt Lower) — no longer Helena in disguise — now that they are finally catching up for the first time since the “Severance” Season 1 finale.
In the aftermath of “Woe’s Hollow,” the fatal “Severance” episode that saw Helena’s true identity exposed by a suspecting Irving (John Turturro), Episode 5 sees Mark wrestle with the reality that he couldn’t tell Helena apart from Helly, while Mr. Milchick (Tramell Tillman) takes the heat for Helena almost dying during the work retreat.
The next episode, titled “Trojan’s Horse,” opens with a man in a white suit shuttling needles and equipment down in an elevator, presumably where Ms. Casey (Dichen Lachman) is locked up on the Testing Floor. We don’t know exactly what the man is transporting,...

I have a confession: I think "Severance" has some problems. Before you get out your torches and pitchforks, let me make it clear that I do really like the show. It has a great aesthetic that only gets better in "Severance" season 2 thanks to some standout cinematography, plus the performances are excellent and the surreal, dark comedy-infused mystery box of it all is undeniably compelling. But at the same time, the show's first season felt a little too heightened in a way that bothered me.
If Lumon can't inflict physical harm on their severed employees because it would hurt the outies too, then what's stopping innies from physically resisting their psychological punishments? Would Lumon really risk physically injuring the outies by dragging the innies to be tortured in the break room? Why are severed employees even necessary when Lumon has so many unsevered employees who work on the floor? Who are any of the villains,...

Severance Season 2 Release Schedule (Photo Credit – Apple TV)
Severance Season 2 premiered on Apple TV+ recently, after keeping the audience waiting for three long years. But the wait was definitely worth it, as the show has once again received critical acclaim and audience love.
The dystopian sci-fi thriller series focuses on the employees of a fictional firm, whose office identities and non-office identities are separated by the employers by planting a chip in their brains. Though the experiment seems to be working, it ends up creating chaos in everyone’s lives.
Apple TV+ does not drop the entire seasons of its shows at once, so viewers will have to be aware of when the new episodes of Severance Season 2 come out. So here is all you need to know about the new season’s release schedule.

Even the most casual “Severance” fan knows the Lumon offices are anything but cozy. What’s perhaps more surprising is how cold the series feels when it leaves its dystopian corporate hellscape, a setting that’s explored more in the second episode of Season 2.
While the Season 2 premiere focused on Innie Mark’s (Adam Scott) return to Lumon, “Goodbye, Mrs. Selvig” is all about what happened in the outside world five months after Innie Mark made contact with his outie. Previously, “Severance” has only offered audiences a glimpse at Pe, the fictional state where the series takes place. Little is known about this location other than the fact it’s likely in New England, owing to the fact the series is filmed in New York and New Jersey. It’s not clear whether “Severance” — Apple TV+’s mind-bending workplace thriller whose Season 2 budget reportedly topped $200 million — will deliver payback for the tech company. But Apple boss Tim Cook is doing his part to drive tune-in for Team Lumon.
Cook stars in a “Severance”-themed promo video released Friday by Apple. In the spot, Cook is reporting for work at the mysterious Lumon Industries as a “severed” employee, having undergone a surgical procedure to divide his identity between work and personal life.
Cook’s grim-faced Outie enters the Lumon elevator; as he descends to the building’s severed floor, he breaks into a smile as his Innie persona takes over. After walking through Lumon’s maze-like hallways, the CEO is greeted by Mr. Milchick, the somewhat menacing Lumon supervisor played by Tramell Tillman.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Severance” Season 2 Episode 2, “Goodbye, Mrs. Selvig.” Read our Episode 1 review here.]
Mr. Milchick really stepped in it this time. In the wake of The Macrodat Uprising, the severed floor’s newly appointed manager (played by Tramell Tillman) may have cleared every sizable hurdle the Lumon higher-ups set for him — retaining Mark S. (Adam Scott), firing the rest of Macrodata Refinement team, replacing them in a mere 48 hours, firing the replacements (Mark W. is going to sue!), and rehiring the original team — but in Episode 2, “Goodbye, Mrs. Selvig,” he has to throw out bigger bait than a pineapple basket to get the desired results. And he doesn’t even understand what kind of bait he’s offering.
Near the end of the episode, when Mr. Milchick visits Mark at home in the hopes of convincing him to keep working at Lumon, the company delegate is armed with offers. He tosses out...

This post contains spoilers from Severance season 2 episode 2 from this point forward.
Well, we knew that whatever happened in the Outie world after the overtime contingency, it probably wasn't exactly as it was presented to the Innies. But Severance season 2 episode 2 reveals the aftermath and impacts the Outies really faced, and it's brilliantly executed and also mind blowing in a way that's seriously upped the ante for the series moving forward.
In all honestly, I shamefully took everything Milchick told the Innies in the Severance season 2 premiere when they returned to Lumon at face value. They experienced fame in the public eye for their rebellion? Sure, sounds plausible! Five months have passed in the Outie world? Yeah, that makes sense! The three others opted not to join Mark? Again, that tracks!
But season 2 episode 2 flips the script and shows the inverse of the first episode. While we spent the entirety...

The season 2 premiere of Severance took place entirely within the basement of Lumon, where we watched Mark and the other innies run around without any idea what was happening in the outside world. In Episode 2, "Goodbye, Mrs. Selvig," we flip the script and discover what the outies were doing.
As predicted, pretty much everything Mr. Milchick told Mark in the season premiere was a big fat lie. The outies for Dylan and Irving didn't refuse to come back; Milchick fired them. The innies didn't get famous after their jailbreak, and Lumon hasn't adopted any new policies in response to public backlash; all the bullshit reforms the innies heard about last week were done to placate those four specifically. In the real world, Lumon is trying to sweep everything under the rug. Recording a message for the public, Helly's outie lies and says that everything she did at Lumon's black tie...

[Warning: The below and video above contain Major spoilers for Severance Season 2 Episode 2, “Goodbye, Mrs. Selvig.”] Severance‘s second season continues and with it the unraveling mystery of what happened outside of Lumon’s doors after innies from Mdr were released into the real world. Filling in the gaps left behind after the premiere, this latest installment, “Goodbye Mrs. Selvig,” revealed that following innie Mark’s (Adam Scott) experience in the real world, it was mere days before he was back at Lumon on the severed floor, rather than the five months Mr. Milchick (Tramell Tillman) led him to believe. Before Mark had returned to the office, his sister Devon (Jen Tullock) was rather suspicious of the events that had unfolded when innie Mark woke up in her home. She pressed Mark to seek answers after his remark about how “she’s alive.” While she suspected it had to do with Gemma (Dichen Lachman), Mark was resistant to such a...

The return of Severance provided plenty of great moments and cool imagery to chew through. However, the world-building is far from complete and is often enhanced by the power of the story outside of Lumon. “Goodbye, Mrs. Selvig” serves as the second piece of that equation. Not only do we dig into the lives of the Outies and their families after the Overtime Contingency was activated. We see the panic that erupts throughout Lumon as a result. “Goodbye, Mrs. Selvig” is directed by Sam Donovan.

Season two of Apple TV+’s Severance has been one of the most highly anticipated sophomore seasons in recent memory. With the first being a smash but concluding all the way back in 2022, fans couldn’t wait to hop back on the streaming service to see what was going on at Lumon Industries. As for co-star Christopher Walken, he’s just fine watching Severance on DVD, thankyouverymuch.
With the second season of Severance underway, Christopher Walken was asked on Andy Cohen Live (via The Hollywood Reporter) if he had gotten a chance to watch it in its entirety. “Not all of them. I can’t. I don’t have the equipment. So, they’re good enough to send me DVDs.” That equipment, of course, is Apple TV+, which is common enough to find on pretty much every smart TV on the market. But Walken doesn’t have it…or any streamer,...

Spoiler: This post contains details about the Season 2 premiere of Severance.
As Severance returns to office, fans might recognize a familiar voice welcoming them back to the show’s surreal corporate life.
Series creator Dan Erickson recently explained how Keanu Reeves came to make a voice cameo as the building during the ‘Lumon is Listening’ video in the Apple TV+ sci-fi series’ Season 2 premiere.
“All I can say is that we talked about a couple of different people for that role,” he told Collider. “We always wanted it to be somebody that people have certain associations with, but also, it had to be a very warm presence. The Lumon building is very friendly in the context of this video, and there’s a friendliness to that particular voice and a heart to that particular voice.”

While mirroring his intro in season 1, when he walked through the halls to the Macrodata Refinement wing, this time, he goes to the Wellness Center in search of Ms. Casey (Dichen Lachman). However, he finds the room has been refurbished, and the Center no longer existing.

Severance is a sci-fi psychological mystery thriller drama series created by Dan Erickson. The Apple TV+ series is set in a world where people can undergo a medical procedure to separate their work memories from their other memories. The procedure is called “severance” and can only be done by a biotechnology corporation, Lumon Industries, where most of the story takes place. We follow Mark S. and his team of severed workers as they do mysterious work for Lumon Industries, but strange occurrences force them to question the reality of their existence and jobs. Severance stars Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Dichen Lachman, Michael Chernus, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, Patricia Arquette, and Sarah Bock. So, if you loved the mind-bending concept, thrilling mysteries, and compelling characters in Severance, here are some similar shows you should check out next.

Warning! This article contains Spoilers for Severance season 2, episode 1Severance season 2 is everything I expected it would be and more. Before getting into the episode, it's important to note that season 1 was released back in 2022. Due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes, work on the show was delayed, and we're only now getting season 2. I've had an issue with this era of streaming shows where projects debut to massive success and then disappear for a couple of years or more before returning. This can lead to interest waning, especially for shows just starting. Luckily, Severance allows us to adjust to its in-universe changes.
Severance is a psychological thriller series featuring Adam Scott as Mark Scout, an employee at Lumon Industries who undergoes a "severance" procedure to separate his work and personal memories. However, as work and life personas mysteriously begin to collide, it quickly becomes clear that not all is as it seems.

The second season of Severance, which debuts tonight on Apple TV+, proves that the corporate sci-fi drama has still got it. But it has also been [checks notes] three years since we last got an episode, so you cannot be blamed for feeling a little fuzzy on what was happening back then. Fortunately, we have more compassion for you than Lumon has for its severed employees, so we’ve assembled this refresher course heading into this new season (which we’ll be recapping every week).

That’s because he works at the mysterious Lumon Industries and underwent an experimental and controversial “severance” procedure, essentially splitting himself into two different people: his innie and his outie. The Lumon offices have moved to New York City. Leading stars of Apple TV’s Severance appeared for a bit of performance art in Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Station this week.
Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Patricia Arquette and Tramell Tillman all appeared as their Severance characters for the event on Tuesday, with producer-director Ben Stiller on hand to take pictures. The pop-up featured a real-life cubicle from the iconic office space of Apple’s show, which returns with season two on Friday.
During the initial pop-up on Tuesday, the actors entered the cubicle, cleaned the office’s carpets, chatted with each other and worked at the desk computers. Stiller posted several images from the scene to his social media, writing, “Grand Central right now.” Per Apple, several of the set pieces and wardrobe were original pieces from the show’s filming.

Severance season 2 has now debuted on Rotten Tomatoes, and the score beats that of the near-perfect season 1. Created by Dan Erickson, the hit Apple TV+ mystery series premiered in 2022, following Adam Scott's Mark Scout, an employee at Lumon Industries who has had his work memories surgically separated from his personal ones. After a glowing response to season 1 and repeated delays, expectations for Severance season 2 are high, and the first reviews for the new season have suggested that it will be worth the wait.
To accompany these positive early reviews, Rotten Tomatoes now reveals that Severance season 2 has debuted to a perfect 100% score with 33 reviews, as of writing. This score means that season 2 is now ahead of season 1, which has a 97% score with 116 reviews. It's worth noting, however, that season 2's score could fluctuate as more reviews are added.

When Severance premiered in 2022, it was unlike anything else on television. From its meticulous production design to its mystery box plot, it was a series that felt firmly of its time in its exploration of labor and workplace misery while having the vibe of a delicious throwback thanks to its mid-century modern look and the timeless quality of its central conceit.
From director and executive producer Ben Stiller and creator Dan Erickson comes “Severance.” Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This daring experiment in “work-life balance” is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work… and himself.

“Severance” Season 2 will be remembered as one of the greatest moments of this planet. Over the weekend, Apple TV+ dropped a trailer for the long-awaited new season of its Emmy-winning sci-fi thriller, and if it’s an accurate reflection of what the season holds, it’s going to be a magnificent escalation of the series.
In the trailer, the “innies” of Lumon Industries go back to work after the game-changing events of the Season 1 finale, where they blew the whistle on the cruel conditions the people who have undergone the “severance” process live under inside of Lumon. They’re all trying to figure out what’s really going on inside and outside of Lumon, but “innie” Mark Scout (Adam Scott) has a particular goal: free Ms. Casey (Dichen Lachman) from inside of Lumon and return her to “outie” Mark, her husband who thinks she’s dead. Meanwhile, “outie” Mark is...
