Samuel Go is an American writer and director of Chinese-Filipino descent. He is known for his films The Marker (2012), Guy Thinks He's in a Music Video (2015), Soundtrack (2017), and Mac (2019).
Born in New York City, Go started making films as a teenager growing up in upstate New York when his parents bought a video camera, and his English teacher allowed him to make films for school projects. A graduate of Brown University and Cornell Law School, he started a legal career as a Beverly Hills entertainment lawyer. Attending the Sundance Film Festival to represent a client, the festival re-ignited Go's creative passion for film. Pursuing both filmmaking and law, Go attended night film classes in Los Angeles while founding his own law firm with two other partners and successfully arguing over a hundred trials. He put filmmaking on hold as he became an attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington DC, but returned to filmmaking with his debut short The Marker (2012), which screened at the Richmond International Film Festival, the Maryland International Film Festival, and the ECU - European Independent Film Festival. Go then wrote, directed and starred in Guy Thinks He's in a Music Video (2015) and wrote and directed Soundtrack (2017). Both films were selected for numerous film festivals, with Soundtrack winning the Award of Excellence at the Headline International Film Festival. Go's latest film, Mac (2019), won Best Mystery/Thriller at the Alternative Film Festival in Toronto, Canada, and the Award of Merit at the Canada Shorts Film Festival.
