"What are your plans for the summer?" Good Deed Entertainment has released a teaser trailer for an indie romantic comedy called Love... Reconsidered, opening in theaters in February. Another indie romance film they're trying to get out in time for Valentine's Day, if anyone will watch it then. Ruby is a thirty and flirty (but definitely not thriving) New Yorker whose life is transferred to the Hamptons right after a chance meeting with a wealthy consignment store owner. She learns all kinds of crazy things about love when she moves out to Long Island to run this store. In the end, it is through her resiliency of spirit, a flavorful local community, and rejection of the seemingly rich and powerful that she finds the true prize: herself. Starring Sophie Von Haselberg as Ruby, Colton Haynes, Luke Gulbranson, Jill Kargman, Jon Lemmon, Javier Muñoz, and Marisa Ryan. Yet another extra short...

The Elton John-Shaina Taub stage musical adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada, which recently ended a five-week engagement in Chicago, is “not ready” for subsequent stagings, John said today, seeming to end speculation that a Broadway or West End production was in the immediate offing.
“Devil Wears Prada was in preview in Chicago, and it’s not ready,” John said in an interview with BBC Radio2’s Zoe Ball, who asked if the show was coming to London. “It’ll be ready in about another year. We can’t get our theater anyways.”
In the meantime, the rock icon will focus on Tammy Faye, the musical he co-wrote with Jake Schears that opens this fall at London’s Almeida Theater.
Although John didn’t go into detail about what, exactly, isn’t working with Prada – he phoned into the radio show to plug his “Hold Me Closer” single with Britney Spears...

Exclusive: The pre-Broadway engagement of the Elton John-Shaina Taub musical The Devil Wears Prada is showing its fashion sense for the first time in Prada-appropriate stylized photos provided exclusively to Deadline.
See the pictures below.
The musical, which begins a limited five-week Chicago engagement on July 19, stars Beth Leavel as Miranda Priestly and Taylor Iman Jones as Andy Sachs – the roles played by Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway in the 2006 film version – and the new photos show the actors looking suitably chic as the iconic fashionistas.
In case you somehow missed Lauren Weisberger’s best-selling 2003 novel or the subsequent hit film, The Devil Wears Prada tells the story of young Andy Sachs (Jones) who has just landed a dream job at the fashion bible Runway Magazine. The dream, of course, turns nightmarish thanks to the tyrannical rule and rigidly high standards of Editor-in-Chief Miranda Priestly (Leavel), an Anna Wintour-ish diva who takes no prisoners.

Chicago – The evolution of the “local filmmaker” always seems to be defined through where that person is. Jack C. Newell appears to not be measured by time and place, but as a filmmaker of artistic vision with a basis in love. His latest film, “Monuments,” opens June 4th, 2021, through the Gene Siskel Film Center virtual cinema.
Written and directed by Newell, “Monuments” is a comedy about grief with a dash of hopeless romance and a sprinkling of adventure, this melange is a quintessential indie road movie, featuring expansive cinematography and an unexpected musical score by acclaimed Takénobu. Filmed on location partly in Chicago, “Monuments” brings together an eclectic cast led by David Sullivan and Marguerite Moreau as a devoted couple whose love cannot be diminished by death. The family of Moreau’s character has other plans, and the comic element of the film comes from that conflict.

It’s oddly appropriate that grief-stricken widower Ted (David Sullivan) spends most of Jack C. Newell’s “Monuments” schlepping his wife’s ashes around the geographical midpoint of the continental U.S.A. This dippily surreal existential comedy — imagine Quentin Dupieux engineering a head-on collision between “Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia” and “Little Miss Sunshine” — feels like it’s born of the exact middle ground between the big-budget escapist mainstream and the hardcore arthouse “coasts” of American cinematic output. It’s in a flyover state of mind.
Any other year, no big deal — there has traditionally been no shortage of Sundance-y, SXSW-y low-budget American filmmaking to which the awful adjective “quirky” can be applied. But right now “Monuments” — which at least has no smirk in its quirk — getting a theatrical release makes a hopeful, daffy case for the U.S. indie still having a role to play in the polarized post-pandemic movie landscape.

"It was never about tombs or gods or monuments... Happiness for us was uncomplicated." Row House has released an official trailer for an indie drama titled Monuments, which originally premiered at last year's Nashville Film Festival in the fall. A grieving widower decides to travel across the country in a stolen pick-up truck, determined to scatter his wife's ashes in Chicago. Ted attempts to sidestep more grief, loss, and familial dysfunction when he steals his wife's ashes and sets off on an impulsive odyssey through America's heartland to find something he'd lost long before her death. The film stars Marguerite Moreau as Laura, David Sullivan as Ted, Javier Muñoz as Howl, and Shunori Ramanathan as Amber. This looks good, the dark comedy makes it better. Along with the strange musical song in the background of this trailer. Huh. Here's the new official trailer (+ poster) for Jack C. Newell's Monuments,...

Unlike many of the other upcoming musical movies, the just-announced Hamilton film isn't a re-cast, adapted movie. Instead, it's a theatrical release of a filmed performance on Broadway! So, does this mean creator and original star Lin-Manuel Miranda will appear in the movie? No need to wait for it - the answer is yes.
Way back when Hamilton was a new Broadway phenomenon in 2016, the show's creative team decided to film the musical before the original cast departed. "We're filming the original cast before I go. We Got You," Miranda tweeted back then, adding in a second tweet, "What are we doing with that footage? No idea. Throwing it in a vault at Gringotts for a bit probly. But we're getting it."

A star-studded cast including Sir Patrick Stewart, Samuel L. Jackson, Lucy Liu, Zachary Quinto, Michael C. Hall, Tony Shalhoub, Matt Bomer, Billy Porter, Judith Light and more will lend their voices to the audiobook edition of Fight Of The Century, a brand-new anthology curated by award-winning authors Michael Chabon and Ayelet Waldman in collaboration with the American Civil Liberties Union to mark its 100-year anniversary.

Others you may never even have heard of, yet their outcomes quietly defined the world we live in now.
