After much speculation on when the cast and crew will start filming, that speculation ends today since we now have confirmation that production has begun. While filming is taking place in the United Kingdom like always, the cast and crew will also be shooting at a new filming location this season.

In Benedict’s book, “An Offer From a Gentleman,” Benedict meets his love interest Sophie at his mother’s masquerade ball, which Eloise says is happening in a few months in the Season 3 finale.

Yerin Ha, soon to be seen in Dune: Prophecy, has joined the cast of Bridgerton season four as Sophie Baek aka the Lady in Silver. Ha will be a series regular in the upcoming season, playing a maid who catches Benedict’s eye.

Netflix offers this description of Ha’s character: “Sophie Baek has been forced to spend much of her life working as a maid for the most demanding employer in the ton. But the resourceful Sophie always finds a way to persevere through her circumstances — which will drastically change after she disguises herself to attend Violet Bridgerton’s masquerade ball and meets Benedict Bridgerton.”

Speaking with Netflix’s Tudum, Yerin Ha talked about what she loved about Sophie. “What drew me to Sophie was that she immediately has obstacles — something that she constantly has to overcome,” said Ha.

Netflix announced on Wednesday that Yerin Ha (Halo, Dune: Prophecy) would be portraying Benedict Bridgerton’s (Luke Thompson) love interest in the upcoming season of the hit series, which will focus on the second-eldest brother’s love story.

In the Julia Quinn novels, Sophie’s last name is Beckett, but for the television adaptation, showrunner Jess Brownell worked with star Ha to come up with a Korean surname for the character out of respect for Ha’s culture. (She is Korean and from Australia.)

“A name is the first bit of identity that you share with the world, and that’s why changing a name can be so powerful,” Ha told Netflix’s Tudum. “To make Sophie’s name fit someone who looks like me is really empowering. All credit to Jess.”

Updated: It’s official. Netflix has confirmed Yerin Ha will join the Season 4 cast of Bridgerton as the love interest for Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson). As was previously reported (see below), Ha will portray Sophie Baek, a name change from Sophie Beckett in the book series, to reflect Ha’s Korean heritage. Sophie has a slow burn romance with Benedict in Julia Quinn’s novel An Offer From a Gentleman, on which Season 4 will be based.

This is not the first time Bridgerton has changed the name of a character from the books. In Season 2, Kate Sheffield’s surname was changed to Sharma to reflect the character’s Indian heritage.

Fans just about lost their minds when the final moments of Season 3 of Netflix’s “Bridgerton” showed that in Francesca’s (Hannah Dodd) forthcoming season, her future husband Michael will instead be Michaela (Masali Baduza), allowing Francesca to better explore her “outsider” (i.e. queer) identity following her current husband John’s (Victor Alli) death.

While much of the online fan backlash to the Michael/Michaela swap is the same frustrating feedback that often happens when showrunners elect to put a more diverse group of characters onscreen (and should therefore be ignored), some people have simply expressed disappointed that a popular romance tale that thoughtfully wrestled with infertility may lose that well-done subplot in the new TV adaptation. But that doesn’t need to be the case.

Penelope, aware that she must reveal herself as Lady Whistledown to her soon-to-be-husband, grapples with the worry that Colin will not love her once he truly knows her. At the end of Season 3 of Netflix’s “Bridgerton,” Eloise (Claudia Jessie) looks to be set for a great adventure. Eloise’s sister Francesca (Hannah Dodd) and her new husband John (Victor Alli) are to depart for the relative peace and quiet of Scotland, and Eloise — restless after the marriage of her best friend Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) to Eloise’s brother Colin (Luke Newton) — asks to go with them, ready for a major change of pace and location.

It’s a refreshing set up for the future, and while textual hints suggest Season 4 will be at least partially centered on Benedict Bridgerton’s (Luke Thompson) story, fans of course will expect to see more of Eloise. The social season is upon us once more, this time with a long-awaited love story at its center. Netflix released Bridgerton Season 3, Part 1 on May 16. Still, before diving into the newly released Part 2, I’m unpacking the promises of the first four episodes, which welcomed back Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton as Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton amidst a whirlwind of new styles, suitors, gossip and relationships.

Season 3 promises to cash in on the mounting tension and intrigue of Penelope and Colin’s complicated relationship foreshadowed since the early stages of the series. Penelope, a frequently overlooked wallflower leading a secret life as high society’s most relished gossip columnist, has shaped the show’s atmosphere as her pen persona, Lady Whistledown. This season, can she make a splash in society as herself and finally secure a match that will bring her as much happiness as the love stories she reads by her window?...

Last weekend had something for everyone with a stacked roster of streaming shows and a blockbuster family film in theaters. According to IMDb data, Prime Video’s “The Boys” and Disney/Pixar’s ‘Inside Out 2’ saw the most traffic of any titles from Friday, June 14 through Sunday, June 16. “The Boys” returned for their highly anticipated fourth season with three new episodes that dropped on Thursday, June 13. Meanwhile at the box office, ‘Inside Out 2’ became the first film since last year’s ‘Barbie’ to score a weekend debut over $100 million. The most popular names on the site told a slightly different story, but looking at the top 10 titles and names during that time period provided a glimpse of what to expect in the coming weeks.

The top titles list was split evenly between shows and movies, with returning series “The Boys” and “Bridgerton” leading the way. But “House of the Dragon” was right there with them, a notable achievement considering the list only captured traffic from a single day (the Season 2 premiere date on Sunday). Interesting outliers included the upcoming Prime Video movie ‘Space Cadet,’ which dropped its first trailer last week, and the first ‘Inside Out’ movie made it onto the list, riding the wave of interest in the sequel.

The top names on IMDb were mostly consistent with the top titles, but with some interesting twists. “Bridgerton” and “The Boys” cast members represented 7 of the top 10 names, as expected. But interest in ‘Hit Man’ stars Glen Powell and Adria Arjona was still high, and only Nicola Coughlan of “Bridgerton” was more popular on the site than the ‘Hit Man’ leads. Finally, the appearance of Andrew McCarthy may seem like a glitch if you haven’t heard of his new documentary ‘Brats,’ which premiered on Hulu on June 13. In it, the actor reconnects with members of the Brat Pack, the cohort of young actors who starred in many iconic teen movies of the 1980s.

Looking ahead to the coming weeks, without the release of any tentpole titles in theaters, popular shows will likely dominate the list. “Game Of Thrones” spin-off “House of the Dragon” will certainly send some of its cast members into the top 10. Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke are shoo-ins, but it’s possible we’ll see Eve Best (Princess Rhaenys), Ewan Mitchell (Prince Aemond), or Matt Smith (Daemon) make the list. In the first week of the new season, “The Boys” stars Laz Alonso and Valorie Curry were the top names from the show, ranking above the more established stars. It’s likely there will be some movement in the top names list as the season plays out.

Bridgerton is unarguably raging as one of the most popular romance shows as of now, enchanting viewers with the incredible love story full of twists and turns and sudden realizations of Penelope and Colin.

And while these two continue to steal hearts, one other character has been acing her game at leaving an indelible mark as well: Eloise Bridgerton.
