Born in Northern Ontario, at Sault Ste. Marie, Stephen was christened:
Derek Stephen Alastair McPhail. He spent much of his adult life as a
performer, carpenter or staging technician. Steve studied both, Theatre
Tech and later, Film Studies, at Ryerson University in Toronto. He is a
parent, singer, songwriter, record producer, (Beer Weazl Productions),
actor, screenplay writer & filmmaker (Outlaw Film Productions).
Stephen's parents, now deceased, were: John Donald McPhail, also born in Sault Ste. Marie and Shirley Grace Cook, born in New Westminster, B.C. Stephen has two siblings: his older brother, Ian Douglas Carlyle McPhail and his younger sister, Hilary Leah Elaine McPhail. Stephen married Dawn Louise Zowtuk, producing a daughter, Zingarro Mariko McPhail. Zingarro is now married to Nicola (Nick) Di Crescenzo and have produced two sons: Luca Jaden and Dante Angelo.
