Robyn Babina

A former middle school drama teacher on the East Coast, Robyn Babina dove into acting and producing later than many of her peers. In 2012, armed with a BFA in Film/Drama from Syracuse University, and a renewed passion for the arts, she hit the ground running, building a resume of principal and supporting roles in short and feature films, television productions, new media, theater, commercials, industrials, and VO. Also called to roles behind-the-camera, Robyn co-founded Gladiolus Productions in 2013. With her business partner (Kylie Hitchcock-Garcelon) she has produced two award-winning short films (GLUTENY, MORAL COMPASS) and a feature (THE DOG WALKER), as well as an award-winning webseries (AUTO BOSS) and a TV comedy pilot (WELLNESS, INC.). Acting accolades include BEST ACTRESS IN A DRAMATIC ROLE from New Haven International Film Festival (win), BEST ACTRESS IN A FEATURE FILM at NOVA International Film Festival (nomination), and BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SHORT (win) from Atlantic City Cinefest (win). Always driven to try new things in the industry, Robyn wrote her first short film in February 2022 (PERCEPTION). After racking up several screenwriting awards on the festival circuit - including Best First Time Screenwriter, Best Short Drama Screenplay, Best Unproduced Short Script - and achieving both Quarter-Finalist and Semi-Finalist acclaim, the next logical step was to produce what she'd written. Enlisting Emmy award winning filmmaker Erik Bloomquist to direct, she brought PERCEPTION to life via her second production company, Shluffy Studios. It premiered in April 2023 at the prestigious Boston International Film Festival. On the festival circuit, PERCEPTION has so far been named an official selection of Atlanta Shortsfest (nominated for Best Director), Pasadena International Film Festival, Micheaux Film Festival (Los Angeles), and Love and Hope International Film Festival (Barcelona). As a proud member of Women in Film & Video (New England) and SAG-AFTRA, Robyn is inspired by the many courageous stories told by fearless women in this industry, and is excited to see what the future holds while she documents her own fascinating journey.
