Belinda van der Stoep

Belinda van der Stoep made her first film debut with the movie adaptation of the popular book ONLY DECENT PEOPLE (from the writer Robert Vuijsje) in 2012. She played the streetwise Sherida from Amsterdam South East, who could also find her way in the corporate world while calling herself Rita. The movie was awarded the 'Golden Movie' of 2012 for having 100.000 visitors in the cinemas.
She attended the prestigious Institute of Performative Arts in Maastricht that 2012. Other roles soon followed. Belinda played the shy Ghanian Minah in CABO (2013) and the abused student Adinda in the popular television series Van God Los in the episode PARA (2013), and the daughter of a retired undercover cop in FLIKKEN MAASTRICHT (2014). In the last year of university, Belinda did her internship at Stage Entertainment with the musical DREAMGIRLS, where she covered the role of Lorrell, one of the Dreamettes.
After graduating in 2015, she played the extravagant fashionista Ivana in the project X-inspired movie FISSA (2016), a doctor in the arthouse film COBAIN (2018) by Golden Calf winning director Nanouk Leopold and a sarcastic urologist in the comedy-drama THE MARRIAGE ESCAPE (2020). THE MARRIAGE ESCAPE got awarded 'Platinum Movie' of 2020 for having over 400.000 visitors in the cinemas.
During the pandemic, Belinda and a select cast and crew shot the romantic-comedy BON BINI: JUDESKA IN DA HOUSE, which Belinda had a leading role in. The movie came out in 2020 and got re-released in 2021 due to the lockdown. BON BINI: JUDESKA IN DA HOUSE won the 2021 Netherlands Film Festival audience awards (the Dutch equivalent of the Oscars) and had over 100.000 visitors in the cinemas. In 2022 the arthouse film GOOD BAD GIRL will air on television where Belinda plays a detective with a haunting secret. This film was screened at the Netherlands Film Festival in 2021, along with two other projects Belinda starred in.
Not only did Belinda gain a lot of experience in front of the camera with television films, movies, and series, she followed her passion for acting on the stage since the age of twelve. She joined several theatre clubs and courses like theatre school Hofplein and graduated from the MBO theatre school in 2009, equivalent to vocational education. She has done more than a dozen different theatre projects since graduating from university in 2015. Belinda enjoyed working alongside world-renowned director Ivo van Hove and Louis D'or winning actor Ramsey Nasr in THE OTHER VOICE (2018) and toured Internationally for a while with the play.
At the moment, Belinda plays the wealthy Baroness Elsa Schrader in the classic musical THE SOUND OF MUSIC from Stage Entertainment. She will feature as the Ghanian refuge Essie in the five-part television series Rampvlucht which is in post-production.
