Karent Hinestroza, multi - award winning actress from Colombia (South America). BA in Drama from the University of Valle in Cali Colombia. Her diverse acting experiences spans from feature films to television to theater to radio. In 2013 the Academy of Art and Sciences for Cinematography in Colombia gave Karent the Macondo Award of best lead actress for the movie Chocó. In 2014 she won the prize India Catalina for best Actress Revelation in her role in the television series La Selección that aired in Caracol Television. In 2015 she won The Guachupe de Oro Award for Social Awareness Contributions as an actress, in 2018 she became The Afrocolombian Of The Year in the category of Art and Culture, and received another award by Ministry of Interior, named: Leaders Who Innovate. The next year, 2019, she won the award of the best Afrocolombian Actress of the Decade by the newspaper El Espectador, and Colour of Colombia Foundation. The same year she was recognized by Mipad and United Nations in New York as one of the Most Influential African and African Descendant People Under 40 in the category of culture and media.
Karent has acted in several films, playing lead roles, hence, she has received very special recognitions for her outstanding performances during her international tour of some of the most relevant Film Festivals in the world. Karent has performed in many theater plays, has worked in television series, playing main roles as well. On stage she starred in theatrical works for several professional theater companies under the direction of well renowned directors. In ¨A Streetcar Called Desire¨ by Tennessee Williams, directed by Everett Dixon, Karent played Blanche Dubois. Now she has started her new path as director, screenwriter and producer with her film called Black or Latina.
