Hussen Ibraheem was born in Beirut, Lebanon. Despite an early interest in filmmaking, he first finished his BA in architecture and later earned his MFA in cinema from the Red Sea Institute of Cinematic Arts (RSICA), a film MFA program with University of Southern California (USC) . Hussen is based between Berlin and Beirut.
