It is another Friday, and four new Tamil films are dominating the screen. These four new releases, which dropped on December 15, offer a range of different films for audiences to pick from. Kollywood fans are in for a treat with four new Tamil releases this week.

While Uriyadi actor Vijay Kumar seems to rule this battle, Vaibhav and Parvati’s Aalambana also offers an interesting tale to watch on screen. Uriyadi was a Tamil language political action thriller that won accolades for being a brilliant film.

Both the films have received good reviews from audiences. The other two films do not seem to catch many eyeballs. While Kollywood fans are in for a treat, check out what to watch this weekend.

Kumar Sanu, one of the most revered singers of the 1990s, has released a new track and it is laced with the old world charm enough to send the 1990s generation on a nostalgic trip. The song, titled ‘Dil Bhi Rone Laga’ is about love, loss, remembrance and human connection.

Directed by Ajoy Varma, who will be making his debut in the Malayalam film industry, the film has been penned by Sajju Thomas. And it is bankrolled by Santhosh T Kuruvilla under his banner Moonshot Entertainments. The film will have its crew entirely from Bollywood. The crew comprise of cameraman Santhosh Thundiyil, who was the cinematographer of M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Jai Ho, Rowdy Rathore, etc, stunt master Sunil Rodriguez of Golmaal Again and Singham Returns fame and Serena Tixeria, who worked as the make up artiste in 3 Idiots and Dhoom. While Parvathy Nair has been roped in to play the female lead in this flick, the star cast also includes Suraj Venjaramoodu, Dileesh Pothan and Sai Kumar to play significant roles. The shooting of this film is progressing at a brisk pace and its title is expected to be announced as the shooting progresses. Meanwhile, Mohanlal’s Odiyan is also said to be in the final stages of production and its release date may be announced officially soon. Reports are that Odiyan is heading for a March/April release this year.

Namith Pramod and Parvathy Nair play the female leads in this movie. Apart from this film, Udhayanidhi Stalin also has Kanne Kalaimanne and 7 Kinaru in his kitty. He then made his debut as hero with Oru Kal Oru Kannadi which went on to become a big hit. With the actor starring in two back-to-back Malayalam remakes, it looks like he is keen on remaking smash hit Malayalam movies into Tamil.

The star cast of this film includes Manju Warrier as the female lead with Prakash Raj, Siddique, Innocent, Narain, Kailash, Sana Althaf, Appani Sarath and Nandhu in supporting roles. M Jayachandran and Cs Sam are composing tunes for the songs and Bgm respectively while Shaji Kumar is cranking the camera and John Kutty is the editor. Odiyan, made on a high budget, is bankrolled by Anthony Perumbavoor under his banner Aashirvad Cinemas.

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal was present at the launch of director Priyadarshan’s new film Nimir and wished the team well. Featuring Udhayanidhi Stalin as the hero, the film has Namitha Pramod and Parvathy Nair playing his heroines.
