- Uddika Premarathna is a Sri Lankan actor, singer, television announcer and former member of parliament. He is an actor in Sri Lankan cinema and television.
Made his cinema debut in 2011 film Buddhist film Mahindagamanaya as a minor role. In 2013, he rose to prominence as the main role in the film Samanala Sandhawaniya, playing the role of Vadisha Wikramanayaka.The film successfully completed 100 days in theaters. Uddika was nominated for "Most Popular Actor" at the 2014 Hiru Golden Film Awards.
In 2015,Uddika Premarathna was casted for the role of King Dutugemunu in the blockbuster film Maharaja Gemunu directed by Jayantha Chandrasiri. The film was awarded Most Popular Movie at the 2016 Hiru Golden Film Awards.
In 2017, he acted in two films. He played the main role of King Walagamba in the epic historical film Aloko Udapadi, which was critically acclaimed. In the children's film Paha Samath, Uddika played the role of Samath's crippled father.
With Para dige, the massive mega series which was a big hit from 2021-2023, Uddika Premarathne won two most popular actor awards in a row at Sumathi awards and Raigam awards.
In 2019, Premarathna acted in the thriller action film Rush as the lead character, Rashan 'Rush' Wijemanna. He described the role as completely different from his previous roles, most of which were Sinhalese kings and monarchs.
In 2024, Uddika was awarded for his performance in Rush as the most popular actor of the year 2019 at the Sarasaviya film awards ceremony.
Also 2024 he is working on an upcoming movie called Mr.Mrs which is being directed by Charith Abeysinghe and also can be described as another difference he's going to make to the silver screens with this role as it's a laughter filled comedy film written by Giriraj Kaushalya and produced by pro. Ravi Liyanage. Also in the upcoming movie Mulleriya Hatana he will be acting as the king Buvanekabahu (the3rd).
