Letterboxd, the social platform and crucial marketing tool for indie film, will soon be able to help its users find movies in nearby theaters.
In collaboration with aggregator Assemble, the service is integrating cinema showtimes into its platform, offering an intuitive way for users to access real-time information about film screenings over the coming seven days.
The beta launch of the new feature is rolling out to users in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, New Zealand (where the company is based) and Australia on Christmas Eve.
“It’s a natural progression for us to offer showtimes to our community, as film fans return to cinemas post-pandemic,” says Letterboxd co-founder Matthew Buchanan. “We’re committed to providing our members with all the tools they need to enhance their film-watching experience and this inclusion of showtime listings is just the start, with more regions and fuller integration (including notifications) to come.

Letterboxd, the movie-reviews social network that has attracted millions of cinephiles — including one Martin Scorsese — is adding movie listings to its service.
Starting Wednesday (Dec. 13), Letterboxd Patron members in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, New Zealand and Australia will have access to showtime listings for films currently playing in cinemas near them over the upcoming seven-day period. Letterboxd is introducing the feature (which it is calling a beta test) in partnership with aggregator Assemble, which in the U.S. compiles theater showtimes for approximately 9,000 screens.
Initially, the service is offering the movie listings feature to Patron members ($49 per year in the U.S.). As of Dec. 24, Letterboxd will launch the feature for all other members.
You won’t be able to purchase tickets directly through Letterboxd: When a user clicks a showtime, they will be redirected to a separate ticketing site to purchase tickets.

Since its founding in 2011, Letterboxd has carved out a niche as a social platform for cinephiles. Now it wants to use that platform to get people off their computers and back to movie theaters.
The film discussion and review platform is adding showtimes for paid patron members in the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Australia, Canada and New Zealand, letting users see where the movies they are reading about are playing near them. The feature is available to patron members now, and will roll out to all members on Christmas Eve.
“Showtimes have long been on our radar as something we’d like to offer to our members—another way of making Letterboxd the one place they come when selecting what to watch next. We de-prioritized the feature somewhat over Covid, as seeing films in theaters was not top of mind!” says Letterboxd co-founder Matthew Buchanan. “Now that audiences are returning to cinemas,...

They’ve proven to be among the most popular kids series on Prime Instant Video, and all four of them were recently honored by the Parents’ Choice Foundation. Today Amazon announced that it has greenlit second seasons of its hit kids series: Creative Galaxy, Annedroids, Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street, and recent Annie Award winner Tumble Leaf.
“Tumble Leaf, Creative Galaxy, Annedroids and Gortimer have all experienced a tremendous response from our customers and we’re excited to bring them back for another season,” said Tara Sorensen, Head of Kids Programming for Amazon Studios. “Working with such remarkably talented and impactful creators in both the preschool and kids six to 11 space, it’s exciting to see where the storylines and characters will take us for another season.”

As he prepared for the premiere of his first series, Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street, David Anaxagoras shared some insights into what it’s like to bring the characters in your head to life – finding the real-life people who will step into their shoes speak your words.
The First Stage: Holding Your Breath
So many miracles had to happen for us to pull off this show, because it really wasn’t something there was a template for. We knew that these characters, Gortimer and Mel and Ranger, were cut from a different cloth than a lot of the characters on kids TV right now. And it was scary because we couldn’t have a show without believable actors. But I had no idea if anybody was even out there who could pull it off. So I held my breath and we started the casting process.

Amazon has announced that it will launch its first original live-action kids series.
Gortimer Gibbon's Life on Normal Street will be added to Prime Instant Video in the UK on Friday, December 19.
The series has been created by pre-school teacher David Anaxagoras, and stars Sloane Morgan Siegel, Ashley Boettcher, Drew Justice and Robyn Lively. Luke Matheny is on board as executive producer.
Gortimer Gibbon's Life on Normal Street focuses on the friendships between Gortimer (Siegel), Ranger (Justice) and Mel (Boettcher). They live on Normal Street, a road that is not quite as ordinary as its name suggests.
Tara Sorenson, Head of Kids' Programming at Amazon Studios, said: "We're thrilled to bring to our customers something exceptional and truly distinctive in today's kids landscape.
"Luke and David have fully realised a nostalgic and cinematic adventure series that organically blurs the line between imagination and reality, which will resonate remarkably with kids and families.
