At the early stages of childhood Calleja was linked to films due to his family. His grandmother was a ticket seller in the local film theater and his uncles where the film projectionist. At the age of 10 he started making "home movies". His fist short film The Red Skirt was nominated for best short film at the Caribbean International Fantastic Film Fest of 2014. His second short film The Transition was selected for the 2017 CarribeanLens International Film Festival in LA.
