"I had a little bit of hesitation when approached with the role of Micah," Bella Ortiz tells Popsugar about her casting in the new comedy-horror "American Carnage." The film sort of feels like a Latinx version of Jordan Peele's "Get Out," and Ortiz's character has one of the more surprising arcs. She had auditioned for another role but decided to go for the part of Micah despite her misgivings. She went for it, noting, "these kinds of movies, they don't get made often, especially independent features." And in the end, she was proud to be part of a majority-Latinx team with lots of camaraderie. Everyone who worked on the film was "committed to being a part of telling this story and highlighting the important issues that were happening."

The U.S. government rounds up the American-born children of undocumented immigrants and sends them to work at a retirement home but things are not what they seem when they arrive in the new horror-thriller American Carnage. The premise sounds far-fetched and director Diego Hallivis tells CineMovie the film executives pushed back on the idea but then America changed for the worse and American Carnage was made. The director and two of the stars, Allen Maldonado and Bella Ortiz discuss their journey in making the relevant film.

Opening with a voiceover and montage of political speeches and news broadcasts on the topic of immigration, American Carnage immediately introduces us to Jp and his sister Lily. She’s just been accepted into college, but what should be a happy family celebration is interrupted as an Ice Swat team kicks in the door.
And here we run into a major issue with American Carnage’s plotting. The raid is one of many called for under an executive order signed by Governor Haper Finn. Immigration policy and enforcement is a federal matter, an executive order by a state governor would have no force. And even if it did, Ice is a federal agency, it doesn’t take orders from state governments.

"If you stick to the program, you time here should be pretty fast & easy." Saban has revealed the official trailer for American Carnage, an indie thriller made by the Hallivis Brothers. They last made this slick sci-fi indie film about time travel Curvature a few years ago, and this is their latest. Another dystopian tale with some freaky twists. After a governor issues an executive order to arrest the children of undocumented immigrants, the detained youth are offered an opportunity to have their charges dropped by volunteering to provide care to the elderly. Once inside the eldercare facility, they discover there's more twisted secrets than they could imagine. Of course, no surprise. The film stars Jorge Lendeborg Jr, Jenna Ortega, Allen Maldonado, Bella Ortiz, Jorge Diaz, Yumarie Morales, Catherine McCafferty, with Brett Cullen and Eric Dane. This looks like Get Out remade with a story about undocumented immigrants mashed up with Resident Evil.

Exclusive: Em Haine (Deadpool) is set as a lead opposite Caitlin Kinnunen and Bella Ortiz in CW’s Our Ladies of Brooklyn (fka Untitled Urman/Rothrock/Weir Project), the drama pilot executive produced by Jennie Snyder Urman.
Written by Claire Rothrock and Ryann Weir and directed by Tessa Blake, Our Ladies of Brooklyn is a dramedy about two millennial nuns – Sister Francis (Kinnunen), a devout true believer, and Sister Maggie (Ortiz), a new arrival who has yet to take her final vows – who start as strangers and become sisters on a funny, spiritual journey to understand their own faith and place in the Catholic Church.
Haine will play Ellie, Sister Frances’ little sister who arrives out of nowhere to wreak havoc. On the surface, she might seem like a wholesome Midwesterner with a badass edge. But beneath it all, she’s an unparalleled con artist with a heart of gold.

Described by Blake as a “subversive comedy,” the untitled pilot stars Caitlin Kinnunen (“The Prom”) and Bella Ortiz (“American Carnage”).
