Ayo Edebiri is calling rumors she was beefing with Jennifer Lopez “absurd” after a clip from a 2020 podcast surfaced in which The Bear star agreed with the host, saying J.Lo’s career was a “scam.”
Edebiri’s words went viral in the lead-up to her guest hosting Saturday Night Live, where Lopez was booked as the musical guest of the week.
“That would be like Mr. Bean and Mick Jagger beefing — and I’m obviously Mr. Bean. She’s J.Lo!” Edebiri told Vanity Fair.
Edebiri addressed the controversy on SNL, saying in a game show sketch, “Ok, Ok, we get it. It’s wrong to leave mean comments, or post comments just for clout, or run your mouth on a podcast and you don’t consider the impact because you’re 24 and stupid.”

Ayo Edebiri said during a new Vanity Fair cover story that Jennifer Lopez “was very chill and nice about it” when a potential online controversy threatened to derail their February episode of “Saturday Night Live.” Edebiri, coming off multiple award wins for “The Bear,” was the night’s host and Lopez was the musical guest amid the rollout for her album “This Is Me… Now.”
In the week leading up to the episode, a 2020 episode of the “Scam Goddess” podcast resurfaced on social media and went viral as it featured Edebiri speaking critically of Lopez. Responding to host Laci Mosley’s claim that Lopez’s “whole career is one long scam,” Edebiri responded: “Well, that’s the thing — she thinks she’s on multiple tracks, but it’s not her. I think she thinks that she’s still good, even though she’s not singing for most of these songs.

Few celebrities can claim to excel in multiple files the way Jennifer Lopez has. A popular singer, a brilliant dancer, and a commercially successful actor, Lopez has proved that she is literally a jack of all trades. In addition, the Jenny From The Block crooner is one of the most electric performers who has set various stages on fire.

But not everyone is equally convinced about the Puerto Rican artist’s talent. A former Marvel alum and The Bear star Ayo Edebiri who has been a prominent presence in the 2024 Hollywood awards season, claimed that Lopez’s singing career was bogus, and stated that she never actually sang her own songs. This accusation resurfaced around the time that Edebiri and Lopez were due to appear together on Saturday Night Live.

Golden Globe-winning actress Ayo Edebiri, who recently hosted ‘Saturday Night Live’, acknowledged jokes she made in the past about actress-singer Jennifer Lopez. JLo served as the episode’s musical guest, reports Variety.
In a game show sketch where Kenan Thompson forced contestants to reckon with their rude social media presences, Edebiri nodded at the recently resurfaced comments, saying: “Okay. We get it. It’s wrong to leave mean comments, or post comments just for clout, or run your mouth on a podcast, and you don’t consider the impact because you’re 24 and stupid. Miranda Cosgrove loves being a gay icon.
The actress chatted to Et Canada’s Dallas Dixon about “iCarly” season 3, when he mentioned he loved seeing queer representation on the series.

Netflix’s The Out-Laws trailer features a bank robbery, car chase, an awkward meeting of potential in-laws, and a reference to James Bond #5. Plus, the trailer includes a very handsome Pierce Brosnan, a description that – according to Richard Kind – isn’t a compliment.
The action comedy comes from director Tyler Spindel and stars Brosnan (Mamma Mia!), Kind (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Adam Devine (Pitch Perfect), Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries), Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy), and Poorna Jagannathan (The Night Of). Ellen Barkin (Animal Kingdom), Julie Hagerty (Marriage Story), Lil Rey Howery (Rel), Blake Anderson (Woke), Lauren Lapkus (Orange is the New Black), and Laci Mosley (A Black Lady Sketch Show) also star.
