We got our first look at some footage from Alien: Earth via a Disney+ promo last week, and FX/Hulu has now released a new teaser and poster for Noah Hawley's highly-anticipated series.

The promo only includes a few brief shots of what has been described as a "new breed" of Xenomorph, but it does confirm the show's summer 2025 premiere date while also revealing a significant change to the previously-established timeline.

We had been led to believe that the series would be set a full three decades before Ridley Scott's Alien, but this teaser reveals that it will actually take place in the year 2120 - just two years prior to the events of the original film.

Alien: Romulus may have brought the Xenomorph back to the big screen in style this summer, but next year we'll be getting another, very different sort of Alien project: Alien: Earth. From Fargo creator Noah Hawley, Alien: Earth is set before the original film on, you guessed it, Earth. This is an interesting move for a few reasons, and curiosity has been high among franchise fans about how Alien: Earth would handle this story. On Wednesday, FX released a teaser trailer and key art for “Alien: Earth,” the first “Alien” franchise TV series, which is coming to Hulu in summer 2025. The majority of people are unaware that the initial story for the Alien franchise was written by the late writer Dan O’Bannon and his colleague Ronald Shusett. With his Alien film, Ridley Scott popularized the franchise, and the rest is history, as the Alien franchise became a pillar of modern science-fiction and one of the most popular franchises of all time.

Since the first film, it has expanded its fictional world and explored the beginnings of its own universe, although the most recent entry, the horror Alien: Romulus, which is set between Alien and Aliens and returns to the current timeline of the universe, provided us with something different. The movie is currently airing in theaters around the world and is a major hit.

But, aside from expanding the franchise further, Alien: Romulus also gave us a glimpse at the upcoming Alien: Earth series, which is scheduled for a 2025 release.

Previously and very briefly known as Alien: Neverland, Noah Hawley’s Alien TV show is now called Alien: Earth.

After reports that Noah Hawley’s Alien TV show was to be called Alien: Neverland, it now seems that Hawley and FX have gone in a different direction, calling the upcoming series Alien: Earth instead.

The Alien: Neverland title floated around in June, but Hawley confirmed the title in an interview with Variety after producer John Landgraf revealed the title in a separate interview.

Speaking to Variety after the Emmy nominations, Hawley confirmed that production on Alien: Earth had now been completed and the grind to finish the visual effects is now beginning.

“It’s a very big show. It’s nice to have some time with it,” Hawley said. “The first year of anything, you want to feel like you’re not up against the wall in terms of time.

The Alien franchise makes its long-awaited return to theaters this August with Fede Alvarez's Alien: Romulus, but we will soon get to see the Xenomorph (Xenomorphs?) terrorize the small screen for the very first time in Noah Hawley's FX series.

Updates on the project have been few and far between since the main cast was announced last year, but thanks to a new rumor doing the rounds online, we may have a little more to go on.

Though he stresses that this may not be the final title, insider Daniel Richtman has heard that the show is currently being referred to as "Alien: Neverland."

The series is believed to be set three decades before the events of Ridley Scott's 1979 classic and a few years before Prometheus, and will find the characters "caught in a conflict with the beginning of artificial intelligence and the competition among developers and users.

Hawley said, “They’re saying maybe don’t do two things at once on this show… their hope is to put a season two as close to season one as possible.” As for how involved executive producer Ridley Scott is with the series – it turns out, he’s not very involved at all.

There’s a lot going on in the world of Alien at the moment. The original classic is returning to theaters, for starters, and the Xenomorphs will be fighting Marvel’s superheroes in the upcoming mashup comic Aliens vs. Avengers. Of course, the main event for 2024 is Fede Alvarez’s Alien: Romulus, a brand new big screen movie set between Alien and Aliens!

With so much going on, you’d be forgiven for forgetting that Disney is also working on an “Alien” television series, in the works for FX from creator Noah Hawley (“Legion”).

Now the franchise is set to continue with a new film directed by Fede Alvarez and an “FX on Hulu” TV series from Fargo creator Noah Hawley… and during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hawley confirmed that he’s one of the fans who wasn’t very impressed by the story told in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. So don’t expect to see nods to the mythology or technology of those films in the TV show.

Lammas Park, the BAFTA award-winning production company helmed by Steve McQueen, hosted an advance screening of their keenly anticipated latest short films this week.

The private event, in front of a full house at London’s Picturehouse Central, saw the screenings of “i and i,” directed by Samona Olanipekun, and “Young Hot Bloods,” directed by Jade Ang Jackman, before they hit this year’s festival circuit.

The screenings were followed by a Q&a hosted by Variety contributor Simran Hans, who spoke with the filmmakers, Jackman, Olanipekun, and the cinematographer of “i and i,” Korsshan Schlauer, as well as Mia Powell, new business director at Lammas Park and Ben Morse, Canon Emea’s content production manager.

“Young Hot Bloods” is a period drama inspired by the Suffragette movement that follows an unassuming seamstress Vera (Aliyah Odoffin), who is confronted by an undercover police officer Sullivan (Alfie Allen) trying to stop the militant group of women.

The Film and TV Charity is launching a campaign to celebrate those working behind the scenes in film and TV.

The charity has designated Nov. 28-Dec. 2 as Behind the Scenes Week, during which they are asking everyone working in production, post, distribution, projection or anywhere in between to celebrate each other on social media using the hashtag #TurnTheCameraAround. They can also nominate #hiddenheroes, who have made working life more special.

Over 35 U.K. organizations have already thrown their weight behind the campaign, including Aardman, Banijay, Disney, Framestore and Warner Bros Studios Leavesden.

“With Behind The Scenes Week we want the industry to take a moment to look around, and to cheer and thank each other for the amazing contributions each and everyone makes to film, TV, and cinema!” said Film and TV Charity CEO Alex Pumfrey.
