Indeana Underhill is a cinematographer, producer and founder, known for co-founding Cinematography for Actors (CFA), an education and community-building non-profit that focuses on supporting underrepresented filmmakers. She is a graduate of the American Film Institute's Conservatory program and an Associate Member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers. Indeana is also a member of the International Collective of Female+ Cinematographers and serves on the American Society of Cinematographers' MITC Lens Committee.
Indeana began her career as a photographer, and her work has since taken her across the globe, including professional experience in North America, South Korea, Spain, Argentina, Scotland, Qatar, Egypt, and Nepal. She also worked with Vantage Film and Hawk Anamorphic in Germany, further deepening her technical expertise in cinematography. She also shares her knowledge through guest lectures at institutions like Cornell University and CSUN, and has been featured at prestigious festivals and conferences, including HollyShorts, American Cinematheque, Podcast Movement, and NAB Show.
With a passion for translating complex philosophical and cultural ideas into compelling stories, Indeana works to expand audiences' understanding of different worlds, cultures, and experiences. She is deeply inspired by her time in Egypt, where she was drawn to the ancient sense of community, particularly the unifying power of the call to prayer, which greatly impacted her perspective on collective human experience.
