Ann Juries-May is an actress, writer and motivational speaker from Cape Town, South Africa. She studied Theatre and Performance at the University of Cape Town and graduated in 2012.
Ann is widely recognized for playing Claudia Cupido for 3 seasons in "Arendsvlei" on KykNet n Kie , Melanie Samuels in "Skemerdans." She has also appeared in "Die Byl," "Eve's Christmas," and the SaFTA-nominated short film "Die Begrafnis" on Showmax. Her commercial credits include appearances for a wide variety of household brands. She is also a voice-over artist, having done radio commercials, dubbing, audiobooks and animation.
Ann has performed in various theatrical productions, prominently featuring in an all-female rendition of William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, which led to a Fleur Du Cap nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role nomination for her role as Grumio.
She is also known for her work in community theatre, having engaged in The Magnet Theatre Clanwilliam Arts Project, The McGregor Youth Arts Project, and Arepp Theatre for Life. Ann presently holds a position on the board of Directors of Bold Moves Africa, a non-profit organization striving to make a positive impact on African lives through expressive art.
During her stay in Vietnam, Ann helped establish the Hai Phong Youth Theatre, leading workshops to improve pronunciation and life skills for students. She directed school performances such as The Toad Sues the Sun and Fruit from Home. Here she also dedicated her time to studying Vovinam, and has since earned her a yellow belt in Mixed Martial Arts form.
She wrote her first play, Close Call, during the COVID-19 lockdown. The play was selected for the Artscape New Voices program and later adapted into a radio drama broadcast in South Africa.
Ann resides in Austria with her husband and their child.
