Mumbai, June 26 (Ians) Punjabi music star Satinder Sartaaj has released his new track ‘Paris Di Jugni’. It’s a foot-tapping love song that transcends borders and languages as it also features a blend of French and Punjabi in its lyrics.

The song is sung, written as well as composed by Satinder. The music is given by Partners in Rhyme with Sunny Dhinsey at the helm of affairs as the director of the music video.

Talking about the song, Satinder Sartaaj said, “‘Paris Di Jugni’ holds a special place in my heart. It allowed me to blend two beautiful languages and showcase the magic of Paris through music. I hope this foot-tapping love song is enjoyed by everyone who listens to it.”

Capturing the essence of the French city in his Punjabi track, the pop sensation incorporates some couplets in the French language, making this an interesting listen!

This is Sartaaj’s first attempt with French lyrics and while it was initially decided that a French local would take on those portions, the Punjabi artist finally decided to take on the challenge of singing in French himself. A lot of prep went into this as the artist trained in the dialect, accent, pronunciation and other nuances of the language.

Actor-Singer Satinder Sartaaj will be seen recalling his acting debut with ‘The Black Prince’ in 2017 in the ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’. Elaborating on the experience, Satinder says: “I always felt that I am meant for the stage. My first passion and love will always be live concerts. Films were never my priority as such, but the subject of the film (‘The Black Prince’) was such that I had to say ‘Yes’.”

Satinder made his film debut as Maharaja Duleep Singh in ‘The Black Prince’ in 2017. He is all set to be seen in the Punjabi film ‘Kali Jotta’, which is directed by Vijay and also stars Neeru Bajwa.

Recalling his acting debut, Satinder says: “California is home to many Punjabis and Sikhs and they are very fond of their history. So the production house came up with the idea of making a film on the life of Maharaja Duleep Singh.

Actress Neeru Bajwa recently spilled the beans on her decision to never get married and how later she fell in love with Harry Jawandha and got married to him.

She shared: “I never wanted to get married, and I always thought that I would be single forever because I am not those romantic kinds rather I am very practical. But you know they say when the love of your life walks in everything seems surreal, bells start ringing, the wind starts blowing and you get this strange feeling.”

“And honestly, all these things happened when I saw Harry and for a fact, the first time I saw him I knew I was going to marry him.”

Actor-singer Satinder Sartaaj recalled how director-producer Vijay Kumar Arora used to be the favourite cinematographer of most of the Bollywood actresses and they insisted on working with him.

Satinder, who made his film debut as Maharaja Duleep Singh in ‘The Black Prince’ in 2017, has sung a number of tracks and is all set to be seen in the Punjabi film ‘Kali Jotta’, directed by Vijay also starring Neeru Bajwa.

The actor revealed an interesting anecdote about the ‘Kali Jotta’ director: “When Daadu (Vijay) was a cinematographer in Bollywood, many actresses had a condition that they wanted Vijay Kumar Arora as their cinematographer.”

He added: “This is because he has the ability to shoot them at great angles which would further enhance their presence on-screen.”

The fabulous Bagri Foundation London Indian Film Festival in London and Birmingham, is UK and Europe’s largest platform of independent cinema from the Indian subcontinent. The brilliant London festival has closed but the amazing movies continue in Birmingham until July 2nd.

The festival has grown significantly in stature and reputation, with pan-Indian and Indian sub continental cinema in several languages, all subtitled in English, Bsl (British Sign Language) incorporated in some talks, and this year attracted major award winning films including Newton, Hotel Salvation and The Cinema Travellers, as well as world premieres like the Tamil comedy, Ticket – The Movie.

The annual Cannes Film Festival played host to the official unveiling of the eagerly awaited trailer of Brillstein Entertainment Partner’s (Academy Award winning film 12 Years A Slave) latest biopic The Black Prince. Media from around the globe descended upon the India Pavilion to catch a glimpse of the award winning movie, directed by Hollywood filmmaker Kavi Raz, as it prepares to take the big screen by storm when it releases worldwide on 21st July 2017.

Journalists and photographers sat in awe as the trailer powerfully encapsulated the enthralling tale of the Last King of Punjab, Maharajah Duleep Singh and the constant battle he faced to regain his identity, faith and essentially the Kingdom taken from his grasp by the British.

The film follows the story of the last Sikh Maharaja — the son of the powerful ruler Ranjit Singh — who was placed on the throne at the age of 5, after the death of his father.

The Black Prince, an historical drama based upon the true story of Maharajah Duleep Singh, the boy who became king of Punjab shortly before it was annexed to the British empire, was awarded the Special Jury Remi Award today at the 50th annual WorldFest International Film Festival in Houston. The event’s Gold Remi was also awarded to the film’s Natalie O’Connor for achievement in Art Direction.

Majarajah Duleep Singh was exiled by the British to a privileged life in England when he was only 15 years old, and was shortly thereafter converted to Christianity. Reuniting with his long-lost mother after more than a decade, Duleep begins a daring journey of self-discovery in order to reclaim his faith and the kingdom that is rightfully his. His struggle inspired Sikhs to continue their fight for freedom until India regained its independence from British Imperialism in 1947, and the Sikh kingdom was divided into India and Pakistan.

Acclaimed actress Shabana Azmi has joined the cast of Hollywood’s The Black Prince, a film telling the tragic yet fascinating true story of Maharaja Duleep Singh the last King of the Sikh Empire in Punjab. Son of the powerful ruler Ranjit Singh, he was born in 1838 and placed on the throne at the age of 5 after the death of his father. In 1849, when Punjab was annexed to British India, the young prince was removed from the throne and eventually sent off to England. His attempts to return to India and reclaim his kingdom were thwarted by the British. He ended up a pauper, dying alone in a Paris hotel in 1893.

Co-produced by Brillstein Entertainment Partners executive Jai Khanna, the drama will be directed by Kavi Raz and features the acting debut of acclaimed singer-poet Satinder Sartaaj.
