Eric Penna was Born in Baltimore, MD and began contributing to film music in his teens in collaboration between Rhino Records and his band Dyslexic Crush. After re-locating to Boston and touring internationally with the band Ketman (2001-2009), Penna shifted his focus to film and television music full time.
Being a fan of all things retro, Penna has amassed a collection of vintage recording equipment allowing him to fuse the sounds from the past with modern production value and fidelity. Some of his modern interpretations of vintage sounds can be seen in his work on the indie films "TREX" and "Surf Noir" (for which Penna teamed up with Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario for a version of the classic Phil Phillips song "Sea of Love"). Modern sounds make up the bulk of his television work which has been featured on numerous episodes of MTV's Catfish, Vice TV, Intel's Becoming: Featuring Johnny Knoxville, Hulu's Shut Eye and more.
Through a partnership with the Mary Pickford Foundation, Penna has been able to work on 3 modern re-scores of classic Mary Pickford silent films for future re-release.
Residing in Los Angeles, Penna has helped shape albums and songs for So Many Wizards, Winter, Levitation Room, Sadgirl, Easy Love, Carter Tanton and many more as a producer and recording engineer. Still active as a performing musician himself, Penna fronts the instrumental psychedelic surf band Trabants who are still active and currently signed to Lolipop Records.
An avid record collector, Penna compiles his rare records for re-issue releases and curated a popular monthly radio segment called Mondo Chic heard as part of Mukta Mohan's morning radio show on KXLU. His compilation "Gallic Guitars A-Go-Go" was released by ACE records in 2019.
