A radical vision of Indian womanhood collides with scattered storytelling in director Konstantin Bojanov’s “The Shameless,” a provocative queer drama laid low by its oblique narrative. Following two women destined for a life of sex work, the drama is lucid in its politics, but often opaque in its drama — a dynamic embodied by two wildly different lead performances.

"I'm not going anywhere without her." Screen Daily has revealed an early festival trailer for a romance film titled The Shameless, which is premiering at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival coming up soon. This is the latest film from Bulgarian director Konstantin Bojanov, leaving his homeland to tell a very different story set in India. It's premiering in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes 2024. After killing a cop in a Delhi brothel, Renuka quietly escapes and takes refuge within a northern India community of sex workers. There, she begins a forbidden romance with the 17-year-old Devika, a young girl who is condemned to a life of prostitution. Against all odds, they will try to forge their path to freedom. As part of the short film program of this year’s Indian Film Festival in Los Angeles, Sakshi Gulati’s thesis film for the Film and Television Institute of India will be screened alongside many other short features. Her movie explores the issue of urban life as well as its consequences on the human spirit focusing on a small family who have just recently moved to a bigger city.
Because they search for any means to try and get by, a father and a mother of a small family (Rohit Kokate and Anita Dengale) have decided to rent the space in front of their balcony to an advertisement agency. Blocking their view on the world outside is always a large ad for either fast food or insurance agencies, a condition which is slowly taking its toll on the various family members.
